Just did 39.6 No luck, by any chance do you know how he updated it? Do you put the map files in the VP4_update or leave them separate. @Mpgrimm2 )

Basically, the only available map files released as/with a complete SW update we're for v21.9 .
I don't know if my patched UAq updates for v28.3 and v40.1 with v21 maps worked successfully, or if I just got lucky b/c I have had one person use the same files and brick a radio (cell modem fault), not sure if the battery voltage was kept up with a charger or the engine running??
... I do have the 2 patched files hosted/linked in clearlystable's thread (post 2)... Use at your own risk, verify download against checksums. I'm considering removing them. (I never successfully rolled back to an earlier version either)

Basically you have to keep the original v21.9 UAq file with maps in it's original zipped folder... As well as the destination update in it's own zipped folder, ie v28.3, ,39.9, or 40.1 ... Then you just copy the map folder directly from original ZIP to the other ZIP.

Once done, then you can unzip the completed & patched file, move to a blank thumb drive for an update.

note: I had the same issue with Mom's UAq with non working nav (missing map files) on my parents UAq with v21.9 SW on it. 22.60 didn't fix it, 28.3 with maps didn't fix it, 39.9 with maps didn't fix it, finally on v40.1 with maps the radio updated and showed active map database (from v18.x).

Took map files from 21.9 and put it with the 39.5 update. No luck. I will try with the 30.24 map file with the 39.6. If it dosent work I give up.
Yeah, it never worked for me either...

It's ordered. I took the Delphi apart hoping they shared a WWAN card but it was embedded in the PCB. Way more screws in that thing. It's going on eBay soon. And thank you!

Agreed, Couldn't hurt to replace the card, very easy swap...prices dropped too (this one is only $36)

I just replaced the Sierra card in mine with no luck. I am looking at a new board but only see Row Versions, has anyone been able to download US maps yet? Maybe @Mpgrimm2 can shed some light as well. Thanks!

Sorry to hear that...you've pretty much exhausted my toolkit. It sounds like that for whatever reason your radio just isn't reading/seeing the map database on it.

I’m not too worried, I think I bought it for $100 which was a steal. So another $100 in boards isn’t really a big deal. I just want to make sure it works perfectly before I sell it to someone.

I finally got it working and purchased the map update for $100—just a heads-up for anyone who has this issue in the future. Does the USB help if I were to upload the files for other people?

So reinstalling the map data fixed it? The update USB will likely be tied to your VIN and/or radio serial number.

Would be great if someone discovered how to jailbreak these radios and port Garmin / Here maps to them.
There was an effort on XDA in which I believe the successfully rooted the older RA3/RA4 radios but I don't think anyone has done the Panasonic UAS/UAQ/UAV/UAX radios. I think you'll likely see the UConnect 5 radios get rooted and custom ROMs though as they are Android OSs...
