Just bought a 2013 ram with the Uconnect 5.0. Overall, I like the system, but I guess I dont totally understand it all....

Does it not turn off completely? I cant find a way to do that.

So, if I mute the system, the sound goes off UNTIL i turn off the engine. Then the audio turns back on until I open the door. Either this is a stupidmsystem, or I am pretty stupid. I assume the system is smarter than I am and that there is something simple that I am missing.....help!?!?

On mine the left round button is the volume .
All I do to turn off is press the face of the button and the
Radio goes dark . So I assume it's turned off. On the right there's a settings button it To customize on how you want the radio to act and other user controls on the vehicle itself. It's not an awesome radio but it's not bad.
At first I didn't like not having CD player Then I realized I've havent used one in my car in years . Hope this helps . If worst comes to worst go back to the dealer they were supposed to give you a tutorial on how to use all features of the new vehicle.

I'm not an expert on this but I believe the radio works just like your smartphone does. Say for instance you have an iphone, when you press the top button on your phone it doesn't actually turn the phone off instead it puts it to sleep. The reason being is because your phone is always constantly searching for data to update your applications.

I believe that is the same concept being applied to all the uconnect radios. The reason being is on the uconnect you have the apps tab which I think connects to RAMS network sending and receiving data. I technically believe that your radio never turns off it just goes into sleep mode. For example if you download the uconnect app on your phone and connect it to your truck you can automatically start your truck if you have the feature, unlock it and lock it, etc...

For your radio the 5.0 I'm not exactly sure if it has the uconnect apps tab, but I'm assuming that in someway it is still connected to the RAM network. All in all I believe it is more of a safety feature. In case your truck gets stolen, or your key knobs aren't working electronically and you don't have the key. You can unlock your truck through the uconnect RAM network.

Hope this might have helped.

Are you saying it dont turn off when you turn the truck off...or do you mean you cant turn it off when the truck is running??? If its the 2nd one...its becuse the 5.0 is not just a stereo...its a complete computer system...it controls your audio...climate, Uconnect...everything. There is a button that says Screen Off that makes the screen blank. If you dont want the stereo on...instead of Radio go to Aux and there wont be no sound...then hit Screen Off and then it will be off...but the system is still running apps and climate control in the background.
