Here in socialist Illinois that would cause someone to have a conniption fit. Though I think if the ammo was in the glove box or some other "container" it might past muster. have to do some checking. I really like that.

You would be correct the gun cannot be stored with the ammo, at least until June 9, 2013. At that point if the SCOUS doesn't take the State's appeal. If they accept the appeal the current law would stay in effect until their ruling. Now if you live in McLean Co. IL. Concealed carry is ok if you are an otherwise law bidding citizen, ie not a drug dealer or thief. The SA there won't prosecute Unlawful Use of Weapons for merely carrying. At least that is what he has said in the media.

In Texas, concealed carry doesn't apply to long guns. Rifles and shotguns can be carried in vehicles without restriction. Even before the implementation of the CHL, those people I stopped (I'm a police officer) who didn't comply with the old laws about traveling with a handgun got a pass, so long as they were law abiding and didn't give me a hard time. Same story now..even without a license to carry, it all depends on attitude and past behavior.

I disagree with the idea of having national laws regarding concealed carry beyond reciprocity between states. I don't want the Feds gettin in my business any more than they already are.

Good idea on the gun rack. I've thought about doing the same thing, only making it overhead if I could figure out how to make it work.

I'm not sure hoe Tx is, but in FL unless you have a CCW permit it needs to be securely encased in something.

Yes, but for some odd reason handguns must be concealed. Long guns can be in plain sight if you wish.

I seen this mod and wow the ideas came a flooding in lol . I can't have guns open like that cause being active duty the frown on uncared weapons but Im thinking good spot for ax and pick handle for recovery kit and might be able to fit small shovel in there. Thanks for the pictures and mod idea .

Haha. If you have a loaded mag with no rifle or pistol in the vehicle you can get yourself in trouble.

On the flip side, I live in Orange County, CA and picking up my CCW on Wednesday. Will be one of the few to be legally carrying.

In Illinois the firearm must be completely encased and the fasteners must be fastened (i.e zipper closed, folding open case tabs pushed down). The ammunition can be stored with the firearm but not in the firearm. A glove compartment counts as completely enclosed.

I like this mod, but I have a Rambox bed so this is a dealer equipped option for me!
