it is a Frame Vibration Dampener, ( called mass dampers )

Why the "dumbells" on the sides of the frame?
Putting rust proofing under my truck this week I noticed two cast iron weights mounted one on each side of the frame. Looks like they are mounted in some kind of rubber like a vibration damper of some kind. But I can't imagine why therewould be vibration dampeners on the frame rails. What are...
