Hi everyone.

So I’ve been told it wouldn’t hurt to upgrade brakes on my 2015 1500 with 6” lift. I’m also at 35k miles and I don’t think anything has been replaced yet. Are there any type of performance brakes I should look at? Ideally spend well under 1000$.

I know very little so as much info as possible is helpful. Thanks!

We offer a great package that includes R1 Concepts Geomet drilled and slotted rotors and posi-quiet pads. They offer great stopping power, low dust and are long lasting at great value!

I recommend EBC stage 3 rotors/greenstuf pads every time someone asks on the forums. I have 15,000km on mine now and they are a major improvement over stock.

What about the actual calipers too or are those fine being stock?

Stock caliper are perfectly fine. No need to upgrade them.

Just check/lubricate your slide pins as per any brake job. I had a slide pin that seized up on me and was all rusted

The stock calipers are ok. With a good pad and rotor upgrade you will see a good increase in stopping power and a large decrease in brake fade.

We do have Big Brake Kits that replace the calipers, rotors, pads, and lines but that is for serious stopping power and is a pricey upgrade but is an option and we offer many color options for them as well!

How many miles are people getting out of the stock pads on flat ground?

42K miles and still going...'16 model purchased new and daily driven since late December '16 in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Can't get much flatter than that...Kansas, maybe?

No, that's flat enough, hah. I have only driven on some mild hills near Canyon Lake while towing a TT but not for very long. I have Power Stop Evolution Plus pads for F/R ready to go when they squealers rear their ugly heads. I will probably replace the rotors the next go around. RockAuto has some drilled/slotted rotors for only $60 a pop. I've never been a huge fan of drilled rotors but the price is right. Prefer slots.

I’m a shade over 87k on the stock rotors and pads. No towing with mostly suburban driving and 6 round trips to Iowa from NJ. This is well beyond any other vehicle I’ve owned but haven’t had any noticeable issues until now. Just started noticing a slight increase in stop distance and softer feel. That’s how I came across this post, time to replace.

Could you give me a price on this R1 Concepts package?

On you BBK do they work with stock wheels?

Thanks

Assuming nothing more than very spirited street use, EBC Yellow Stuff pads were a not too expensive upgrade on my '09 Ram 5.7. Far better than stock.
I put them on my Fiat Abarth too.
Pics are of the Abarth brakes but, I put the same rotors on both also. I drove both at 10/10ths very often without any brake issues. They are not track brakes just very good street brakes that fit stock calipers.

Thats my 09 Ram I traded in for the Abarth next to it.

EBC Yellow Stuff going on my '17 Crew cab when stocks are worn out, if that tells you anything.

My '13 Ram had 106k miles on it. They were the original pads and rotors that came on the truck new. Still had life left.

The stock brakes on these trucks last a long time.
