We’re certain you’ve heard of the Takata Airbag Safety Recall and believe some of you are hesitant to get it completed. It is urgent that you take the necessary steps to repair your affected vehicle to ensure the safety of you and your passengers. In a minor crash, the front airbag(s) on your vehicle may explode due to excessive internal pressure. If this happens, a rupture could result in shrapnel and sharp metal fragments striking vehicle passengers, which may lead to serious injury or death. FCA will repair the vehicle FREE of charge (parts and labor). If you haven’t completed this airbag recall, please share with us why. We care about your safety, and want to understand how we can help to get this addressed. To check if your vehicle is a part of this recall or if you need assistance scheduling an appointment, visit recalls.mopar.com, call us at 1-833-585-0146, or send us a private message. We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Im well aware of this issue, ive gotten so many calls from yall that i have actually put all of yalls numbers on my blocked list so they go straight to voicemail, the issue i have is in my area there is no "set an appointment and bring it in" fix for it, no dealers around me will take appointments, and any i have talked to about recall work tell me "come drop it off and we will get to it when we can", because this supposed "high importance" recall isnt important enough that they dont have any way to get factory defects fixed without taking my truck away for days.

Hi Demon-HeMi,
We're glad you've brought this to our attention. Please know that this is not how our dealers should be treating this recall, nor should this repair take longer than a day. We would like to make sure we can get you in for an appointment and make sure all avenues of assistance are looked into further. Please send us a private message with your VIN, phone number, current mileage and preferred dealer.

I made the call to the dealer. Seems there is two recall's going on. Both driver and passenger side air bag's. Dealer say's we have the part to fix one side but not the other and will have to order it. Will give you a call when we get the part and set up a appointment to fix it. That was near a month ago, still waiting on that call.

Had this recall on my 03 and 07. O3 smooth as silk. In and out in 4 hours. On the 07, got the Hollywood two step BS. Took the facts to Dodge and two days later they had me on a conference call with the service manager. In and out in one day for passenger side. Driver side on back order. Now, in fairness, Takata toast and I understand that dealers are having a hard time getting the replacement air bags in.
Gents forgive me, but I have to get this out. This was preventable and could have been fixed early on. A engineer at Dodge/Ram designed and spec'd the airbags. A buyer selected the vendor/supplier. When they began popping and injuring customers, they could have selected another vendor/supplier, ordered a high volume run and shipped them out to the dealer. Instead the bureaucracy, no accountable process and stinking thinking gave us what we have today. Profit trumps blood.

With me it's the fact of I'm on call anytime I'm not on the clock. And I don't have time to just sit around and wait for someone to get to it and it takes up to a full day to get it tooken care of. When I have a scheduled appointment i want it to where I can get in and get out with minimum down time. Especially the fact that I am always on call.

Urgent my eye. About 2 months ago, I knew I was going to be close to the closest dealer during the work week. Stopped in, had one of the many postcards that I've been sent, customer service girl punches in some stuff on the computer, Parts Manager comes over and states they have the replacement in stock. I go out to my car and grab the airbag, bring it in and set it on the parts counter. They give me some story about they have to do the work. Great have at it. No, they tell me I have to bring my truck in. Yeah, like that's likely going to happen quick.

Have the instrument cluster out of the truck right now because I only ordered 5 cluster bulbs and after checking 7 were bad, but truck runs, but not a big fan of anyone touching my vehicles let alone my work is the opposite direction of the closest dealer and don't even know that many people close that have drivers licenses that could pick me up if I wanted to drop it off. They could have made my life much easier if they would have done it when I gave them the chance. I'm not done with the work I had planned for the interior, but when I do, I have almost every panel off the dash, no glove box, cup holder and ash tray specifically for the airbag. My attitude is going to sour fast being left in limbo.

You know FCA is just installing parts provided to them, they aren't actually manufacturing airbags that turn out to be defective, right?

Yeah I do know that but there still should be some kind of qc of third party suppliers parts when they come in.

They are at the mercy of the manufacturer since the problem is internal to the airbag and even spot checking each batch could lead to false positives (airbags deemed safe that aren't)

Blame takata and maybe Honda, but can't really blame FCA.

It's not just FCA, a lot of major manufacturers got caught up in it.

Problem is they used ammonium nitrate and some additives as a propellant and unfortunately it doesn't age well, leading to unpredictable results, including spraying shrapnel.

And shotty handling of the finished units, too. There is a video or 2 showing forklift drivers dropping pallets of airbags then shipping them anyway.

The issue occurs over time and exposure to certain conditions (heat, humidity)

A brand new airbag tested probably won't show the issue. Same airbag years later might turn into a grenade.

Exactly....

How bout FCA send me the airbags for my vehicles and I’ll install them myself, im more qualified than the techs at the dealership and since this isn’t “just another truck” ill put even more care into it being done right...

I mean seriously, im supposed to take my truck back to a group of techs that couldn’t even get a fuel pump installation done correctly in under a month, but i should trust these guys to put in my life saving hardware?

Thats a big negatory there ghostrider...

FCA engineers/designers spec the parts. The vendor manufactures the part to FCA specs. FCA tests the part produced to insure specs are met and,,,,,then squeeze the vendor for price. Look at the Delphi/GM ignition switch BS. We the consumer get caught in the middle, when FCA "does not" QC after initial acceptance. Critical vendor parts like air bags, cams etc should be spot tested from time to time to insure that vendor parts are still in spec. Companies who care about their customers and the product they put their name on, do that. As they did in the past. In fairness this is not exclusive to FCA. GM and Ford are cutting even more corners.
