Finally got my welding cart finished. Space is a premium in my garage and I went up with it.

Cable management was a top priority.
The cable mounts are built into the side of the cart to save space and I built a junction box to plug the mig, plasma, and TIG, and the machine cables tuck up into a expanded metal space in the base. So I only have one plug coming out of the cart.

The base is offset and the casters are double wheeled. In spite of the height it is bottom heavy

Well planned and well executed. It looks like you nailed the Miller color with the powder coat. I am jealous. Mig, Tig, and plasma - and it looks like you have an old Lincoln stick welder under the bench. That has to be more than just toys.

I' making do with my old 80's model Millermatic 200. It's roughly the size of a Honda. Would love to spring for a TIG and Plasma, but probably don't have enough projects left in me to justify the cost.

Nice job, thanks for sharing.

Yeah that Lincoln is 71 years old, and weighs about 200 pounds. It is still going strong.

I lucked out on the powder coating ...got the whole job for 125!!

I initially went in and picked out a blue color that I thought would match. Told the girl working there I wanted “Miller Blue”.
They had some Miller welders in the shop, she went back a couple of days later and changed the color without telling me, but it turned out much better than the one I picked out!

I say go for the TIG! It’s amazing how many projects you’ll find once you have it[emoji39][emoji39]

Here’s an acorn platen I picked up about five years ago, and built a table to hold it. Table has a slide out shelf to catch crap before it hits the floor. Easy to vacuum out when it’s time to clean up. Fabbed up some clamps for it too. The pipe crossmember is not welded in, it is a foot rest when miggind ...it comes out when the Tig pedal is used, or I need to slide some stuff up underneath

The platen is 6 inches thick cast iron and weighs about 2000 pounds. I took it over to Dallas and got it Blanchard ground . The ram 1500 was a little high in front, but handled the job just fine

Awesome job on the platen and table. You really do think things through when you are designing them. I love the drawer for keeping the floor (and you) from catching all the crap.

I had my eyes on a few welding tables that my company had in dead storage. Most likely dated back to the 30's. Just my luck, I took a week vacation and they scrapped them all out to a local salvage house. By the time I had gotten back and figured out what had happened, the house had offloaded them to a steel processor in Cleveland.

I hear what you are saying on the TIG. I'm sure I would find (make) projects to use it on. Just torn on whether to put the money into the tool, or the projects themselves.
