After months of work, i finally got my motor built and swapped into my truck. It has the following mods:
M1 intake
R/t injectors
Mopar performance valve trane (springs, keepers, etc)
Harlin sharp 1.7 roller rockers
Comp cam with custom grind
Etc etc etc.

Tranny and gears are still oem.

Gears are 3.55 but the truck hauls ass now so i dont want to change em.

My truck has the 9.25 rearend and now all it does is fry my passenger side tire everytime i stomp it. Whats the best way to go about converting to a limited slip?

Buy a LS carrier and I would recommend doing a full bearing kit.
Some good options for your set up would be a auburn locker Detroit locker or a Yukon.
I've found the Yukon's to be noisey but work well.
I'd also recommend doing some trans work to compliment your engine mods and deal with the stress of the added power and posi.

just my opinion but i went with a spicer limited slip unit

Works great, no complaints here

also, id agree with the trans mods to help with the new power

a trans cooler (if not already done) would be #1 on my list

Hey rowdy, don't know squat about diffs, what is the carrier? It's not the whole unit is it? Is the carrier inside the pumpkin? Would a limited slip come with a carrier or do you have to get from yard or dealer?

A real LS posi or locker will be the whole carrier. Its in the pumpkin. The part the ring gear bolts to.
Some Lockers install in the original carrier and 99% of those are crap.

Thanks rowdy. So would a power-trax be one of those?

Here is a factory trac-lock also called a carrier. In the one photo you can see the clutch discs that like to fail. Also one of the retaining clips that break.
