I am going to be buying a new 2012 Laramie and am just curious about any known issues with this generation of truck. Sounds like maybe electrical issues are the most common problem albeit they all seem random and unrelated. The reason I ask about this is that I bought a 04 f-150 new and that series of truck has numerous known issues that are consistent in all the 5.4 trucks. I'm not generally a warranty guy but I don't want to get bit by a known issue cropping up at 60k miles that a warranty would bail me out on. Thanks.

Well personally i have heard only good things about the rams, and i love mine, but i think that all trucks have their querks so are you just looking at major engine\transmission issues?

It'***** or miss with all cars and all have some type of issue with them, but for me as long as it's not major, i'm happy.

I know all vehicles have their quirks, I would just like to know the rams quirks. My previously mentioned f-150 has issues with spark plugs breaking off in the heads and are notorious for a ticking noise in the upper valve train. Also, had the rear end go out at 70k mi. and when the window regulator goes out, it just drops the glass inside the door. I guess the difficulty in finding consistent issues bodes well for the ram.

I guess all rams come with a 100k power train warranty so any warranty over that had better be cheap or it would probably not really be worth it.

Ask your dealer for the Factory Chysler Lifetime warranty unless you ask for it they won't tell you about it.

It cost less than the aftermarket warranty the **** life warranty more or less a bumper the bumper lifetime.

But I your planing to lift it Ect save your money it will voild the warranty.

No lift, but I will be leveling. Had a salesman tell me about that lifetime warranty and I think he said it cost about 3k. Really I don't know that it is worth that unless you drive a lot of miles or keep the same truck for 10+ years. Glad to hear there are no real "common" issues to these trucks. It is a far cry from the f-150 forums lol.

Ended up buying the warranty. It's not the first 10k miles that worry me, its the 80k miles that have me concerned. Especially with all the electronics like cylinder deactivation and such. Hopefully I never need to use it.
