Hi all, I just recently purchased a 2014 Ram 3500 dully with a 6.7 Cummings. This is my first diesel so I'm just getting to know the truck. Shortly after I got the truck the "water in fuel" warning light and message came on while driving. I did some research and found that I needed to drain both filters which I did several times, but the warning light kept coming on. I took it in to the dealership and got it serviced and the fuel filters were replaced but it did not make a difference. The warning light continues to come on every time I drive my truck. It always happens about 15 to 20 minutes of driving. It does not stay on, it turns off after about 5 minutes. Has anyone else had this same issue and how was it solved?

On my 5.9 cummins, there was a valve on the fuel water separate that allowed you to drain the water. Any chance you have a tank of bad fuel ?

Is there a fuel water sensor? Could be a bad sensor.

It's probable one of the Water in Fuel sensors is bad.
For piece of mind, drain some of the fuel out of the filters into a clear cup and let it sit for a while. If there is water in the fuel it will separate out. If there is water, your going to want to drain the tank, fuel injectors and HPFP are not cheap.

You might want to run some Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement(Diesel Kleen for warmer weather) in the fuel too.

I purchased a 2013 last year with the 6.7L in it. My water in fuel light comes on whenever I drive it in the rain, but is fine any other day. I've changed the filters but makes no difference. Once it starts raining the light comes on.
