On December 20th, 30 days after I took it in, I was notified that they, the dealership, had ordered a new long block. That's the good news. The long block is back ordered. It's due late March. The dealer is trying to find one with a shorter lead time. I asked if the free rental car will continue to be offered. No answer yet.
The saga continues.

Long block is good. The question is who will be paying for it?

Who's the 3rd party warranty and did they authorize the repair and how much did they approve to pay? Long block through the dealer must be 10k or more.... I thought that aftermarket warranties have max limit. You may want to find out all the details as you'll be the one get screwed in case there's some misunderstanding between dealer and warranty

Today I was notified that the my dealer had received new new long block. They hope to have it installed by Friday.
The dealer has had my pick up since November 20th. It took 30 days to get an inspector to confirm that this was a warranty issue and not misuse. I guess the factory doesn't just keep long blocks sitting around so its taken another month to get it in.
I did have them put in new spark plugs which are not included with a long block. I pay for the plugs but not installation.
My only cost so far has been $105.00 for 30 day use of a loaner car.
Hopefully by Friday i'll have my pickup back. I hope to report soon that this dealer has responded beyond expectation.
