I'm in the market for a security/ remote start system for my 02 QC. I'm interested to hear what you have and how you like it. Any problems, ease of use, any info you can provide. I'm looking for best bang for the buck. I don't live in a high crime area so I might just go with the remote start option to save some money. what features do you like the most?

imo any DEI product is a good option.

I am happy with the Viper 5902 due to the ease of access to the aux functions which i need for my doors. Been working 100% since installed early 2010.

Has a whole array of options but i mostly use the alarm and aux functions w/ the occasional remote start.

I just have the factory system on this truck, but on my last truck I had an Autopage. I wouldn't really recommend it. A couple days after it was installed the brain already needed replacing. One day in a parking lot after school the thing starting going crazy and wouldn't stop going off. If I was looking for one now I'd probably get Viper. Heard a lot of good things about it.

Remote start is a killer feature though. I wouldn't get one without it.

if getting aftermarket, get something made by DEI...Viper, etc...best on the market for RS.

what Aux functions do you use the most? are you doing things like lowering windows and things like that? I'm torn between the Python and the viper, I know they are made by the same company but the python seems to be less money for similar features. I'm just not sure what I wouldn't be getting in the viper 5701 compared to the viper 5901 and so on.

I would completely recommend viper. I have never had a problem with it that wasn't my own fault. And the sensitivity on the sensors and the controls are perfect. The 5901 gives you about 3600 more feet in range. And has a LCD display.

Well I can't think of a place I would need 3600 more feet and I'm not sure I need the LCD remote, just one more large thing to carry. I've heard mixed reviews on the smart start feature also and wow its exspensive to be able to use your phone. I'd like to use my Droid 3 but not at a $300 upcharge. Anyone using their phone?

I will be soon. Jut for the gps and notifications anywhere if my truck is broken into. My 2 way on the 5701 has 2000 feet of range. It has a mile. The reasoning for that range is so you know if the alarm goes off.

Easy access to pop open my driver/pass doors

Really! I didn't know you could have the system open the doors. Verry cool. I could see that handy if you're hands are full or just showing off but other than that why do you use that feature.

I have the AutoPage C3-RS730 LCD (C3-RS730) 2-way, 4-Channel Vehicle Security System / Car Alarm and Remote Car Starter with One LCD Transmitter w/ Multi-Colored Screen

I love mine.. Never had a problem with it all my last trucks had viper alarm/remote start and to tell you the truth I am just as happy with this one as far as functions, range, and workability goes. only thing I see a big difference in is the name.
