Hey Gang,
I'm new here so, forgive me if this is posted/asked in the wrong place/forum section. Below are some pics of my rear differential cover on our 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 crew cab Ecodiesel. On that diff cover are two fittings, one on each side of the ring gear. They each have a tube of some type going to them. The tubes go foward along the frame but I didn't follow them to any particular point. I was doing other stuff at the time. But, as long as I've been wrenching, I've not seen anything like this. And I'm quite sure the basic owners manual will not show what these are for. Any ideas?

Going to a cooler? Follow the tubes and tell us where they go.

My 2022 ECODiesel has this: it is for warming the differential lubricant. Although it is billed as improving the MPGs, I've never seen any data released about its effectiveness. To me, it looks like yet another "weak spot" of failure, costing us big time when it fails.

If I owned something like that and it failed I'd cap off the lines and replace the diff cover with a normal one.

The obvious question is why would they design a diff fluid cooler for the Ecodiesel but not for the Hemi or Pentastar?

Could it be a Monday morning design, looking to impress, versus a Friday afternoon, where am I going to party tonight?

Well gang, OP here,
I'm gonna be under the truck later today for stuff in prep for the install of a Rampage lift for our Honda Goldwing so, I'll definitely follow those lines. Just wondering, does anyone have a service manual for any of these trucks including an Ecodiesel? If so, maybe you could dig around in that manual and see if there's any info on those lines. If not, I'll try and find out. If they're warming and or cooling lines for the diff oil, man, that's a first on me. To me, if that's some sort of *attempt* at increased mpg thing, wow, the manufacturer sure seems to be reaching. In any case, thanks to all for your responses.
