@ John123 might be time to start looking for that NV4500 trany. Yours does not sound promising at all and with the colder temps on the way that will not help it one bit. IDT shipping these big parts over to you is worth it. You still have the check valve in that truck? If yes get rid of it now, like today, also let it warm up in N for a bit before you take off.

Over the last couple of days I installed the Fabtech short/long-arm kit. As I now have the seal figured out for the back of the trany adapter housing I am going to try and install the np241 xcase. I have upgraded the seal from a single lip seal to a double lip seal. It took a few hours of cross referencing seals to find the double lip seal. For those that trucks see a higher than normal moisture this double seal I feel is a very good upgrade. Using the double lip seal means the installing the xcase must be spot on for alignment or the chances of flipping/curling over a seal lip is greater than normal.

SKF seal (single lip) part number is 19211 stock replacement seal, Mopar part number is 04269956AB

National seal (double lip seal) part number is 2692

SKF (double lip) seal part number is 18548

This seal goes at the end of the trany between the xcase and the OD unit. This is not the xcase input shaft seal.

I guess I'm just gonna have to wait and see whats in the pan. If it is on its way out I'm just gonna buy a jy auto for the mean time and rebuild my dead tranny with upgraded parts. Yes I still have the check valve, will remove as soon as I can.

Nice man, gonna have to let us know how the new c-arms are :)

"Washed" it last night in flood waters. lol

I think I drove it though the gutter equivalent of 8 inches of water at one point. That was fun even though it tried to hydro into the curb.

Should have parked it in the drive way last night rather than my spot. :Stupid Me: Now it's likely a muddy wreck again as it poured last night after I got home.

Damnit.

Actually took it to the car wash. Went to go bother a manager, then went to the park and killed 30 minutes taking pictures of my truck.

Then managed to get my nicely cleaned tires muddy again. :suicide:

I have a few pics of the retro lights. JJ does a great job!

Replaced driver side upper and lower ball joints and spark plugs today. Picture speaks for itself of the plugs.

Going to swap on parts from the donor first or starting the body swap?

I had to dig the crap off them with a screw driver and had to blow the heat shields out with an air compressor.

Why not just pull them out? They should pull right out with a pair of pliers.

As for my truck, funds have ran dry, so it will sit the way it is until I either take delivery of the donor truck or buy another fender and core support from picknpull.

I used one of those last weekend, should cut through a heat shield no issue. I use it to cut a wheel bearing off partially :D

I reefed on them with channel locks and they were solid in mine, though I think they're corroded in. Good luck with the truck man, impressive how "little" damage there is to it from 2 head ons...

Loading it up with scrap metal for a run to the yard tomorrow. Picking a fridge up too. I am hoping I will find the weight where the truck actually begins to squat in the rear, but I doubt it. I put 800 ibs in before for the max and it didn't sag then, I think I have near 450-500 with what I have now.

Drove past a construction site near my house...briefly contemplated going back at dark and driving through a big mud hole.

Then quickly decided against it. lol

Not that I have anything else to do to it right now anyways. She's just hiding out in the shop trying to stay clean. Just waiting for a sunny day to head to winter storage.

Filled the coolant, washer fluid, checked the catch can, oil, PS fluid, and brake fluid.

Looks like I need an oil change....so I guess that will be done at the shop when I get my tires rotated. So much for saving money doing that **** myself. :fca5278d:

Half the time I've seen it cheaper for the shop to do it than doing it yourself :anitoof:

And you get run of the mill oil and a cheap ass filter. Plus the possibility that somebody screws up your ****. :anitoof:

:doublepuke:

That's why the 76 is not going to a shop for light engine work.

Put 12 gal in it today, 4 in it yesterday from a jerry can that needed to be fuel cycled.
Emptied my catch can. Got 9.17 mpg over 142 all in town miles. Not too bad.

Put some fuel in it, hoping to go get John123 some more parts for his truck. The new 5/8ths thick clocking ring has not shown up yet, so the 241 install is on hold still/again. Also waiting on my 7/8ths hiem rod ends and weld in bungs. Did some tig welding this week, looks like I can still weld, I did kill a tungsten rod though opp's.

@DD94 Do you have a lead foot or what? Man you get crappy mpg.

Not really, most times I accelerate off the line much slower than most folks. I actually live in a city that has stop lights every 1000 yd at the minimum. lol
Get up to 45....stop, repeat.

Changed out a broken thermostat. The repair manual says to pull the "alternator support bracket". Heed the instructions. It was a PITA to try to work around it. If I could have figured out which bolts secure it I would have taken it off. Now I'm running right at 200 deg instead of the previous 130 deg.
I thought I would change the air filter while I was at it. Found out that the previous owner had put in a K&N. It was almost plugged solid. It took 5 rounds of cleaning to clean things up. With a new thermostat and clean air filter I should be seeing a little increase in gas mileage.
