Took her out on a little road trip (measuring from the cabin were staying in, not counting the 1200 miles it took to get to the cabin)

Went to see a little waterfall, looks like we were the first ones out there since the last snowfall

Got the 275/65R20 Mastercraft Courser Trail HD tires installed yesterday. I already had rancho quicklift 2 inch levelling struts and rs9000xl shocks on the truck. Also rear is probably raised slightly due to my airbags. I leave about 5lbs of air in them even though I have the ones with internal jounce. So technically I can take all the air out. My father in law has a different older version of the loadlifter airbags without the jounce bumper which isn't supposed to be left empty since you could bottom out. Used my diablo tuner to adjust speedometer which only required a little tweak. Instead of 34 inches I ended up putting 33.90 which got my speedometer almost right on with gps.Truck needs a bath. Only drove a few miles, but they drive nice. No road noise that I noticed which is pretty good considering they're 10 ply e rated tires. My Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs were also 10 ply tires and pretty quiet. Mastercraft is made by Cooper which is owned by Goodyear. 1000003943.jpg

Replaced one of the rack boots. Saw during an oil change the clamp had worked loose and tore it up.

20260102_131539.jpgAlso put in steering shaft bushings and it made a big difference! Went from lots of play in the steering to essentially none.

Changed the oil and rotated the tires.

Words cannot express how f'd up the oil filter location is. Everytime I've changed the oil I try to figure the best way to capture all of the oil when removing the filter so it doesn't hit the plug on top of the front axle. I've yet to figure it out. I think an oil filter relocation kit is in my very near future.

Moving on to the tire rotation. I put new rims and 325 60R20 tires on last spring and this is my first time rotating them. HOLY SMOKES! Really heavy. Got it done. Still sucked.

So I searched the forum for a thread like this and didn't find anything. I figured it would be fun to have a thread that everyone can watch what everyone is doing each week.

This week I put on Steelcraft nerf bars, and right now I'm getting the permaplating put on the truck. This way it gets a real good bath.
I made the trip to my mechanic, A.K.A Quick_Shifter, as always well worth the drive.
I got to see the new office and the new customer entrance, soon to be expanded, looks fantastic!

oh let's see... changed out front and rear shocks. Broke a bolt on the rear driver's side so off to the dealer for new ones. That cost me $128 for a new set of 4 bolts and nuts. The rest of that part went ok. That was Friday afternoon. Saturday was spent on the front. Replaced the old Bilsteins with new bilsteins- the same adjustable versions I had in before. Started at 9:30am, finished at 8:00pm. It was brutal! I couldn't keep the shaft from spinning to get the nut off the top mount so I had to run and get carbide blades from the local hardware store. Cut the first shaft off but the nut wouldn't budge. Ran to a buddy's house and he ground 2 sides flat and we vised it. Still took 20 minutes with heat applied. I took his die grinder home with me so I could do the other side, equipped with what he did. Changed out the driver's side ball joint too. So onto the passenger side. Everything came off the truck easily enough and then the fun started again! Had to cut the shaft again, ground the flats and put it into my vise. Broke my friggin vise!!!!!! arghhhh- off to my buddy's house again. Used a bit of heat and the nut spun right off. Frustrating. Finally got the passenger side buttoned up and tools put away around 8:30pm. That sucked! I got 80k and 70k on the front/rear respectively so I should be good til I get a new truck sometime in the future.

I hate working on vehicles but I'm too cheap to pay for things I can do myself.

A zip lock bag over the filter works for me. I used to have the remote oil setup but it was leaking oil so I pulled it off.

No. Do you have a pic of yours?
You can see the White filter in that one pic, works pretty slick if you ask me

I've tried that only to have the bag slip out of my hands, getting oil all over the exact plug I'm trying to save. LOL. I also bought the "oil udder" and that'***** or miss and even bought a bendable, green oil funnel that doesn't seem long enough.

UGH!

Yeah, it's a piece of plastic that is just there (been there for as long as I've had the truck)

The oil drips in it, and out of the hole you see in the last two pics

It needs to be blowing pretty hard for the oil to hit the frame or the trackbars (or whatever those things are that run side to side)

Looks like something I need.

Thank you.

I don't know what it's not stock on all of em (or course I do, if the can save 27 cents, times 500000, is a savings of $135000.00) but it works great

Hmmm. A roll of heavy duty Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil always acted as the perfect rip off a pieces and form it to fit drain funnel for me on any vehicle.
