We get low temps like this fairly regularly, what we don't get is the
sustained low temps. Single digits (Fahrenheit) for a day or two, then
climbing up again, with many or most days between 25F-40F.

The snow we just got would most often be melted away within several
days, the higher piles might take a week or 2. Factoring in both the
lower than normal temps along with the duration and yes, this has
been a very cold winter, and we're just entering February.

We have already burned more wood than we normally burn all winter and I am going to order another 1-2 cords tomorrow because we are just about out.

I even managed to blow up my 42 year old snow blower!

I'm getting a ladder out to clean off my campers solar panels tomorrow since it will be a balmy 35. Also have a new stove being delivered from Lowes so need to be around the house. I didn't take my battery off like my previous camper since my new camper has solar panels and a charger and inverter. Works very well as long as the sun comes out and or the panels don't have 12 inches of snow on them. :D

Struggled trying to figure out why Android Auto isn't working and the ports in the console aren't working properly. Bought a new media hub and didn't fix the issue so next step is checking the wiring from under the seat to the console. Also have to swap out the sockets for the license plate light bulbs. One got corroded and the LED went out and seized in the socket.

Finally got them installed this morning. Got a break in the weather where it wasn't single digits.

Which bumper do you have on there? I replaced my rear bumper back in October due to damage from original owner that someone hit again when parked that made it worse. Front bumper has all the clearcoat peeling off. My rear is a hooke road bumper which I like, but not a fan of their front bumpers. Looks like the Iron Bison Barde front bumper that I was looking at getting. Tow hooks look good!

It's the iron bison barde. Fitment is pretty decent for a $500 bumper. It could be better, but at $500 I can't complain too much. You will want a second set of hands to get everything lined up and the bumper sitting on the frame.

Okay. I thought it looked like the Iron Bison. Nice to see pics on an actual truck. Looks pretty good. Will make my 21 year old son help me. He helped with my rear alignment. I like the Barde fitment better on the corners then most of the front numbers unless you're talking 1k plus cost. The Hooke road looks terrible in my opion from front and causes even more of the wheel liner to be trimmed which I already know I have to do.

Do those hooks attach to the frame? Wouldn't mind having some tow hooks up front.

Parked my Ram the other day after getting out after pulling an empty trailer to a loud knocking. Im going to be checking in the morning if it's a rod knocking at the door or if it's time for lifters and a timing chain. My old gal is at just over 182k miles and it's getting time for some much needed service if the engine will work with me.

You got good use out of her with 182k miles. If the trucks in good shape otherwise might be worth it to fix her.

I did some diagnostic work this morning, I am thankful that it was not rod knock and is just what jws123 said and is the lifters. I narrowed it down the the lifters and rockers for cylinder 8 and have parts ordered and will be tearing into it on Monday when my weekend starts.

Changed my low/high beam bulbs in my headlights. What a pain in the back.
It's a stupid design, but kind of great too.

Learned that the mopar catalog is wrong, both bulbs are 9005, not 9012 low beam and 9005 high beam.
Annoying for sure having to go to the damn store twice...

And in case you were wondering, yes, I took the front grill out!! So much easier to fiddle with them headlights...

I believe 2016 and up got 9005 in both.

Purchased my 2017 Ram 1500, and drove it home for the first time. Funny thing, I went to a Chev dealer to look at a Colorado, and came away with the Ram, which was my first choice.

Replaced the timing chain, guides and tensioners, lifters and rocker arms, a few rounded off bolts and a hose or two.
Tomorrow I just need to decrease the engine, replace the coolant, and do an oil change.

So got my new 275/65r20 spare mounted on new steel rim yesterday and since it's above freezing just ran out and swapped from temporary 235/85r17 spare to full size 10 ply all terrain spare. I'll add the links for the tire and rim although I am running bigger than stock tires (34.1 inch). The tire I bought actually looks really good and has same specs and treadwear warranty as my mastercraft courser trail hd tires which were like $350ish each. For the price (the tire I got for spare was $168) if I had found them sooner I may have gotten 5 and incorporated into my rotation. Tire and rim fit great in the spare location. Didn't seem like a tight fit at all. Since I tow a camper from spring to fall I wanted a tire that would allow me to continue towing if I had a blowout. I have roadside for my truck and also my camper and travel assistance for my camper as well which covers my truck and family. I was going to get road hazard through goodsam for my truck, but saw conflicting information if they would cover my tires since they aren't the factory size or spec. They have same speed rating and exceed weight rating though. Some things said as long as they aren't above their max payout.

So the rim cost more than the tire, pretty happy with both, but man that spare on steel rim is heavy AF! I think those tires and my mastercrafts for 275/65R20 are about 64 lbs and the steel rim is like 38 lbs. I think my 275/60R20 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs were just under 60 lbs. E rated tires are worth the added weight thought. Scraped my tires are million times and never saw a mark on tire or rim. Did get a screw in one tire, but patched it and ran it for another couple years even with towing and zero issues.
