I have been running regular 87 and barely getting 14MPG. What is the recommended octane for our trucks and would a higher octane result in better MPG (I can't imagine it would be enough to even out the higher cost of the mid-grade gas even if it does)? What do you use?

My 18 hemi 3.21 gears crew cab 4x4 regularly gets 24mpg+ per gallon but it lives on the highway. I run 87 also. 89 is recommended though but the ecm can adjust to 87 so it is fine.

I usually run 87 octane, but have tried a tank or two of 89. Regardless of what I use, I get the same MPG's, about 14 mpg around town. I only have 2,000 miles on my truck though, so maybe it needs to break in a bit more.

87 10% eth is all I ever run and I get 21 on the highway with heavy, oversized All-terrain tires.
I can usually average 16-17 combo driving and I have a lead foot and cool sounding exhaust...

I haven't done a road trip in the truck yet to get full Hwy MPG. I do have Nitto A/T tires, I'm guessing those aren't helping my MPG. I haven't heard any engine pinging or any other issues with the 87

89 octane. I get around 15 MPG mixed driving.

I did a couple of tanks of 87 octane to see if it made a difference...and it did for me. The truck felt a little down on power and I lost about 1 MPG overall.

You shouldn't have any ping with 87 octane. Imho, either a bad sensor or you need to try a different brand of gas.

Just finished a 4800 km road trip. Been running 89 octane since new. I now have 21300 kms on the truck. Best milage was on fairly flat terrain cruise set 110 kph, I hand calculated 10.3 L/100kms. Believe it or not but it equates to 22.8 miles per US gallon. As soon as I hit the hilly terrain my milage dropped to 11.8L/100kms or around 19.9 MPG US. This truck by far has been the best ride I've ever purchased. BTW my catch has been installed since new, 83kms. Not that this should make any difference.

I don't know what I am doing wrong. Several people reporting 19 to 21 MPG with someone reporting 24MPG. I drive 35miles round trip to work daily and this is in Atlanta traffic so stop and go a lot of the time so I get that my mileage isn't going to be on the best but it seems like being 5 to 7MPG less is crazy. Unless you folks reporting this live in less populated areas and don't do anything but drive deserted highways I don't understand the vast differences in our mileages. BTW...1 have 3.21 rear end too

I do live in Ga and only have had this vehicle in the heat of the summer. Perhaps with some cooler temps I'll see an improvement
