Not sure where ya heard bad things about the Vararam. But it'll be suggested on this site. Either go with the Vararam or the S&B intake.

where did you hear anything bad about the vararam? ive read so many articles on CAI and I have never read anything bad about them...I have one on my 2010 ram and my brother has one on his 06...they will give you the best power of any CAI on the market...I have also never read anything bad about S&B...and have heard they are a close 2nd in performance

Dat Cummins!
Both are good intakes! If I were going off road the the S&B for sure. If I wasn't going off road, then I would go for the vararam.

I've seen one complaint but it was on another Forum, the guy had gotten water into the throttle body which was due to the body lift and wrong size coupling I think but I believe it was resolved. The pics were pretty scary.

That guy was on here too. Pics were real worrying. Apparently he didn't have the right silicon collar for his three inch lift.
I took six months to figure out which CAI, at first I was thinking Volant, then S&B because of the great write ups on this forum. In recent months I started leaning toward Vararam, but decided I was never going to paint stuff under the hood for show, and really like the look of the factory engine cover. Cant keep that with the air grabber and don't like the orange and blue color combo (boo Mets and Broncos). At that point the minor performance tradeoff for near stock look convinced me to go S&B. Picture available on my thread "S&B CAI from Moe's" in 4 th gen performance.

Edit 6/6/13: Learned recently you can have the OEM engine cover under vararam, but I've had my S&B for almost a week now and I am very happy with it.

Vararam also released an update for the 2013 fitment to allow for the new coolant line routing. Can't go wrong with either of these options.

Like mentioned, the only negative about the Vararam kit for the 2013's was the fitment issue...this was resolved last week, and we now have 5 2013 kits in stock. When it comes to performance, you wont find a stronger running intake because it is the only intake that offers a forced ram air effect.

If you like the more traditional intake designs, then I would go with the S&B. Like Casper posted, it gives a definite power improvement over stock, and looks great under the hood.

You will be happy with either kit.

the difference between the oiled and dry filter is when the dry filter is shot you just replace it...the oiled filters are cleaned and re used...most people say both are about the same as far as what they filter, its just a matter of if you would rather clean it or buy a new one
