accidentally pulled off part of the front bumper valance, so I decided to just remove it. What are these brackets for?

Thanks guys. That makes sense. I'll have to look into NYS laws on this.

Much appreciated.

Its to keep a prius from hitting your front diff. its a law requirement that isnt normally enforced after production. I never seen a service guy during inspection check if they are there are not.

I agree. They are there, so you can hit your head every time you change the oil.

i would imagine you would have an insurance issue if you took these off and then hurt someone in an accident. don't see a reason to remove mine.

Then you must not off-road (a lot). They’re very low hanging, and I banged mine on many rocks until I just removed them altogether. I noticed a big difference when I went offroad the last time.

Funny thing is you don’t notice em on a regular hd truck. I didn't notice them until I trimmed my lower valance and made it the size of a pw one. Then them things stuck out like a sore thumb. And yep they’ll hang up on everything while off-roading

I do off road but not like most of you guys do, crawling rocks and such. I use the truck in a lot of fields and trails on my property. It is definitely more capable than what I test. Had it stuck a few times but nothing the winch couldn't handle. I use it as a hunting rig mostly. Again, i wouldn't remove them for insurance reasons but i understand why some people do.

Don't bother. Everything is illegal in New York State.:(

came from driving a Super Duty. The mirrors in the down position do not offer as much field of view as I am used to. I prefer them in the turned up position.

Bang away...

I agree. My truck came with the non tow mirrors, and I swapped them out for the tow ones due to the travel trailer I tow. I much prefer the non tow mirrors when not towing. I cant stand the look of the mirrors out in tow mode, so I have since gotten used to driving without them flipped up. Took a while though.
