So yes a another shock question coming Sorry :O
2015 Quad Cab 1500 Non Lifted 4x4 Street Queen NO off road driving well no planned off road but the ice can change that lol
Bilstein are my first choice. And the choice on many here :) but it has been the 5100's not much here on the 4600 series
Other then the 5100 being adjustable for a lifted truck and the 4600 OEM lift any plus to the 5100 over the 4600 for a non lifted truck ? There is not much a price difference between the 5100 and 4600 IMO !
I work a PT retirement job at a auto parts store they sell MONROE which used to be a good Brand heard mixed reviews so far. I would get a nice discount on them, So Monroe higher end model would be a pick ,
not sure how much a discount on Bilstein as they do not stock them but can order them.
SO Who has used the 4600 and yes I know 98% used the 5100 lol Anyone use Monroe for their RAM ?
FYI I am not much a mechanic but know enough to pay someone to fix my truck lol
So type slowly with any answers :O

From the no answers I have gotten I assume no one has used Monroe lol.. Looking like I will be staying with the Bilstein 4600 unless the 5100 off a better ride for a no lift Street Queen

I don’t have any experience but here is what I understand from the small bit of research I did about 1.5-2 years ago.

The only difference between the 4600 and 5100 is the adjustability the 5100 offers.

I installed a set of Monroe Reflex shocks on my 05 PW because of my small budget. They seem to be working fine.

Thanks for the reply ! I will never lift my RAM so was wondering if the 5100 was harsher or smother. So the 4600 is on the list

Yea. There was a time where I was going to level it, which would require the 5100 in the front, but that time has passed.
When/if the time comes to replace my OEM shocks, I will most likely go with the 4600’s.

Thanks for your reply ! I remember reading your thread, forgot you went to Monro's ! I hear you on a budget as I am retire as well, working 2/3 days a week gives me a few extra $$ so I can do thing s :) Not much but better then tapping my SS check :) I am going to price out the Reflex as the Bilstein avg 350$ online, not sure the discount I would get at work. If it is 100$ difference well that kicks the budget in the butt lol SO I assume smooth riding like the OEM were when new ? Bumps and pot hole's or here in Maine we have craters in the road LOL

I was at one time thinking of leveling but could not see spending all the $$$ for a look that offers my nothing else as I do not off road .

I can't tell you about OEM ride as I acquired the truck last year with the bad shocks. I thought we were the only place with roads amongst potholes!!

If you ever drive in Maine watch out for the craters in the road, some can eat a Semi lol. They are fixing our roads slowly so not as bad as they were :) But still between the Pot hole and frost heaves you have to keep a look out ! Our frost heaves are already in bloom :O so spring should be real fun lol As for the shocks will start pricing through work, see what my discount is and what I can swing :)

I've heard the monroe are just factory replacement. It will do the job. I did the the 5100 as I got them for an extra $20 and my application is similar to yours. The 5100 handles bumps so much better. Try the high end monroe if you get a good discount.

The zinc vs painted finish is the only real difference plus adjustability.

I guess i don't understand what you want to accomplish. Are your current shocks worn out? Is there something about the stock shocks you don't like. Are you just looking for a better ride or something more heavy duty or-or. I went with the 5100 and as you say most on here do, but I've also heard good things about the 4600's also. I've never talked to anyone that went with the Monroe's, but as you said they used to be a really good shock, but I have no recent experience with them. Some of the high end shocks seem to do a good job but they are really expensive.

Monroe, KYB, Gabriel are all good stock replacements, Gabriel are prob cheaper than all, if your truck is stock and a pavement princess It would run fine on anything factory replacement, don’t know what a high end Monroe is, but sounds like propaganda to make you spend more :), get the cheaper ones, they’ll get the job done.

Jay I have about 54k on my Road Queen RAM now ! Ride is still good but and seems a bit different, at that mileage I am getting close to the end of the OEM shocks IMO ! If there is only a 50/75$ difference I will go Bilsteins. Was not sure if the 5100 give it a different ride then the 4600. But I DO NOT Off Road. I am sure I am over thinking it lol joy s of retirement a lot of time lol

If you don't get the shocks through the parts store your working at, the last set of shocks I got was through the Shock Warehouse--what a joke, they are a pain in the ass to work with, and their customer service really sucks, so i would recommend you stay away from them.

You're doing good at 54k on oem shocks compared to me!
My front drivers started leaking at 25-30k. Shopped all around and ended up getting 4600 front and rear for my 2x4 WhytRam from Nick at GotExhaust. Very comfortable ride, doesnt seem stiffer or harsh and that was with oem SRAs. Much smoother n comfy after michelin shoes...lol

5100 bills are more of an off road shock, and are easiest way to level a truck to get rid of the ardvark bug eater look.
4600 are more of street shock, haul shock. if never oging off road and levelling holds no interest, go 4600.
that said, most will go 5100 for the just in case i iever change my mind factor.

monroe still makes a uqality shock but you must get higher end.
bills are jusst plain solidly engineered and constistant
