Sorry cell service is terrible where I am now i could only upload 1 pic per post. Here's a screen shot of what it was in April in Virginia on flat highway. It was 90 out then vs 80 yesterday but I doubt 10 degrees made this much of a difference. This was with the Mopar 203 tstat.

Mods since then are the Calorstat 190 tstat, used OEM honecomb grill, and lowered efan temps using HP Tuners.
I found swapping out the restrictive Sport grill to the more open/better flowing Honeycomb grill made a differance in temps, especially with the majority of the shutters removed.Personally i think the Sport style grills are garbage,as they don't let enough airflow through to the rad/condensor.

There has to be a way of shutting off that feature within a tune like the truck never had it and avoid cel issues. I know the screw trick has worked for some but I just don't like the idea.

I'll look into it more shortly.

HP can shut off the code on the 4th Gens, not sure if it can on the 5th Gens though. I just ran with the middle ones removed,as a hot day here is 90F,we don't get very many days approaching a 100F. I also ran my homemade bug screen which kept the condensor and rad clean of bugs,as i think alot of over heating issues can be traced back to dirty /plugged condensors and rads.

Do you have any more pics of that screen? I know Genos Garage sells a screen for the HD trucks and I've thought about getting one and trimming it to fit...

Not to many more Corey.I used to make and sell them, then sold the patterns to a welder who was gonna make them, and he lost the patterns. They bolted in at the bottom and used push pins at the top . Mine was showing it's age,as it was my original 1,and it had been on 2 trucks,it needed a repaint,or a powder coat. The fine mesh screen was replacable,as i made 2 frames,1 that the corrugated steel mesh was welded to,then another frame that bolted to it,and held the screen door screen in place. They fit both 6 speed and 8 speed trucks,as they went behind the shutters on the 8 speed trucks
I quit making them as it took me about 4 hours to make each one,and about 30 bucks in material/welding costs, and nobody wanted to pay a 100 bucks for a bug screen ;)

Yeah i was blown away at how restrictive the Bighorn/Sport Grill is compared to the honeycomb grill. This is when I was swapping the grills out looking through the air intake cutout.

On a color matched grill like yours, I agree! Should have come with that grill from the factory IMO.

Mine....well lets just say its growing on me...

You can get a chromed version of the honeycomb,or you used to be able to get one,i'm not sure if they're still available, but i'd guess they are

Ignore. I was looking for a front end pic to see what it looked like but hadn't scrolled down far enough yet. Too impatient...

Just ordered the 797 plate and plan to install with aftermarket aluminum radiator next week. Will share results. Thanks for sharing @Wild one
If you're not tuned it might throw a thermostat rational code, but it's easily cleared with any cheap code reader, when it pops up,it's not a code you have to worry about, but you'll want to clear it when ever it pops up.
There's a bunch of us Canucks in Alberta running a local guys thermostat deletes, but they're virtually identical to 797's deletes.A bunch of us have had nothing but $h!t thermostats lately, with one guy having one literally self destruct in his 1,000hp Super Stock,he caught it before it fed thermostat pieces into his engine, but it was the first Mishimoto thermostat i'd seen that literally fell apart inside the engine

I am NOT tuned...Which plate would provide the best opportunity to avoid a check engine light?
Also, should I reinstall some of the grill shutters? All are removed exept top and bottom row.

I wouldn't reinstall the shutters in Texas,as you're defeating the purpose of the thermostat delete.Start with the middle sized one,and see what happens. If you do get a code, just delete it,with any cheap code reader,as alot of guys have found after about 3 or 4 code clears it never comes back.

Looked down today and my coolant was running 220+ and my oil at almost 230 running 80mph with it 95F outside. I purchased a JET 180 stat last march so I’m usually running at 188F on my coolant and around 200F on my oil. My coolant level was fine and my efan is still turning. I hoping it’s just my stat. I don’t know if it gets too cold in NE OK for a restrictor plate so I guess I’ll try my luck with an ultra stat. Crazy to think that a +40$ stat didn’t last a year and a half.
