It might be an old thing as opposed to being a 545 versus 65 thing.

I thought it had to do with the 545RFE vb with the white solenoid pack having a torque converter lockup solenoid, compared to the grey connector 65RFE vb not having a lockup solenoid.

No, 2013+ was just 65RFEs and the 8HP70/845RE i think.

Actually i think it was mainly 65RFEs in 2013 as everyone was complaining about not being able to buy the 8 speed

Those black things are bleed orifices, the early have them and the lates don’t A lot of guys will block them off when they use them They won’t affect anything The one has a gray connector solenoid pack and the other has a white connector White fits all years, gray only fits 2011-2018 So his is actually a 2013? Is it binding on shifts or setting any codes?

Slightly binding on shifts, it’s clicking pretty badly still on the 1-2 shift now, and it’s setting 2 codes. P0934 and P0845.
