like that, small to fit in chat, what was the symptoms before the VB swap?

Symptoms before VB swap were:

Truck would rev up to 1.9K RPMs when slowing down to 25MPH and speeding back up to speed from 25MPH

Truck would “miss” the 6th to 5th downshift, but catch itself around a second later

Truck would click relatively loudly into 4th gear

The truck would drag and under acceleration with the A/C on

I just may have found my issue.

I looked online for a 65RFE valve body and a 545RFE valve body as my mind was telling me to look and see if there’s a difference, and i think i just found out what’s wrong

I MAY have got the wrong valve body. I don’t know if they’re compatible, but i notice a few things that are different, such as:5d3f45c1dd70f0eac15d08ba459e5150.jpg
70c53d3a688a31d90f550891786fb9a2.jpg

My original valve body doesn’t have the two black dots on top of the accumulators that i can only think of as being bleed off valves. Could this be an issue that i need to take up with the eBay seller?

I think this link might answer your question

^^ Yeah, see if it is codered. I think with as many miles as ender has it is a non issue, but you never know.

Joe didn't get back to me on last point.

So Ender the link you sent me wasn't the link you bought from? The link was for a 65rfe, but you received a 545, so a different link?

I screwed up the question, that's on me, and he said he was over it. I guess info overload...

His last thought...

If the 65rfe VB has the right checkball count, separator plate, and splendid pack, it should work just fine. I'm guessing that was a typo damn autocorrect, solenoid pack.

But, since you received a 545, I'm not sure that would work. I think the opposite would work, that is what Joe was saying, but I thought the opposite when I asked him the question. I thought you had a 545 and received a 65rfe, because that was the link you sent. The link on what you say you ordered didn't have 545. I think you will need the correct VB, unless someone has better info.

You can use a seven-ball valve body in place of a five-ball valve body, but not visa versa, here.

So a 65rfe/68rfe CAN be universal with small mods, but not a lesser rfe.

Then they go on to say this, and I'm at a loss to be honest, lol..

If you are not sure what valve body you need for any RFE transmission just install a seven-ball separator plate with a white solenoid and you can’t be wrong.

Basically they recommend using a seven-ball on the upgrade whether your solenoid pack has the seven-ball or five-ball.

You actually might be into something, i never actually looked at the TRS plate in detail as i was in a massive rush, saw it was kinda similar but i didn’t look at it further.

Would that cause this though?

I'm not sure. I've been sorting through the main questions of this thread trying to locate answers to help.

Thank you, and yes, i agree with needing the correct VB. I’ve been thinking all day about taking the one the truck shipped with and building it up, by putting the new accumulators in the cylinders of the old vb, etc, as the old VB doesn’t have scratched up bores, and i think that it was the solenoid pack making the clicking from what i know now.

I have time to wait, i’m not gonna touch the truck until i can get the new vb to case screws in.

This information is beyond helpful, i must say. Next time instead of rushing to purchase the first thing i’ll see i’ll make a better decision to look at the part numbers of both and make sure i’m getting the right part.

Are the accumulator springs lined out the same across the 545RFE and the 65RFE? I mean like with the double springs?

This was my concern with the 545 versus 65, but as you can see, for some reason the 545 has the check ball locations.

Same, the check ball locations had nothing to do with what rfe, but rather build date.

Do or will you have two grey Sp's? Because if you want to use the 545 as a 65rfe, I think you will need the white one. This is some ****, lol.
