What to look for on a bad 65RFE valve body

I just may have found my issue.

I looked online for a 65RFE valve body and a 545RFE valve body as my mind was telling me to look and see if there’s a difference, and i think i just found out what’s wrong

I MAY have got the wrong valve body. I don’t know if they’re compatible, but i notice a few things that are different, such as:


My original valve body doesn’t have the two black dots on top of the accumulators that i can only think of as being bleed off valves. Could this be an issue that i need to take up with the eBay seller?

I didn't realize the VBs were different between the 545 and 65 but yeah those are clearly different [emoji15]

I had a 65RFE VB in the truck, and i ordered a 545RFE VB because i didn’t know that they were different. The eBay listing (i just checked) shows a 65RFE VB but i got a 545RFE VB instead, i didn’t know, installed it, and now i’m having these issues. Atleast i think that’s what’s up, not very sure.

I wonder if that valve is just for testing vacuum, if it is then it wouldn't effect the function. Just a thought, I'm not sure how they do that.

I wonder if that valve is just for testing vacuum, if it is then it wouldn't effect the function. Just a thought, I'm not sure how they do that.

I’m wondering that too, but if it was just to test vacuum, wouldn’t it be across all accumulators and be across all different variations of the 545RFE+ series of VB?

I think there are two holes with the other pistons, just in a different location? I can see what is in that hole, is it a one way pressure valve?

It’s fine, i just need to get back under her and get this sorted out. I REALLY hope the next person to be as, let’s say, inclined to do this job knows exactly what they’re doing and that this form can be some sort of help.

Very similar but 1 digit off on the PN. So there is definitely a difference even if it's something internal that isn't readily seen....

Looks like there’s more difference between the 2 aswell, there’s a flat surface on top of the accumulators on the 65RFE VB and that’s not there on the 545RFE VB. Also looks like one of the valves in the middle of the accumulator to the far right is shorter.

Yup, that’s what i’m going to do. Thank GOD i didn’t drive the truck and push it past 2nd. Fluid is still nice and pink, so that’s a +.

The 65rfe's I see have those valves as well. Are you in a hurry? I can ask me and corey's buddy Joe Prather and his transmission facebook group for clarification. I think they would know, but might be a while to get that answer. Before you order a 545rfe I can ask?
