2000 Coleman Utah, about 3000# dry, plus loaded bed, moving from Eastern Montana to Western Washington, in January, through the passes of Northern Rockies and Cascades. Handled like a champ, love this truck!

I purchased a new camper last fall, Heartland Sundance 326BH with 7500lb dry weight and pulled it on two trips. Tongue weight 1100 with Huskie 4 point weight dist hitch and it towed quite nicely, even in 30mph crosswind!! Just keep it below 65mph and fine.

I keep trying to upload a jpg of the camper but it won't show up. Anyway my truck is the 21 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7 Hemi quad cab with the 3.92:1 axle ratio and ITB (Integrated Trailer Brake). I am pleased with the setup!!

I'd be curious if you're anywhere near being okay on weights. And 80mph is crazy speed.

2013 1500 Long Horn Laramie. 6spd. I tow a 24ft racecar trailer. Approx 7k fully loaded. Barely get 8mpg. Mainly flat roads.

I tow a 6200 lbs boat and trailer on a 60 mile round trip to the boat ramp and back a few times a month without any issues. I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with a 3.6 with 3.21 gears. Might try a 500 mile trip to the keys. Hoping the truck will not have any issues.

Well, depending on what cab, how long your bed is and if all four wheels or just two have power, your max trailer tow is only 4100 to 4700 pounds so I guess as long as you’re not trying to set land speed records, you’ll be fine. Definitely use your tow/haul mode.

You should be fine. The majority of trucks that have those 3.21 rear end gears have a trailer towing capacity of about 7,800 to 8,000 pounds.
he has the 3.6

Thanks for the feed back.
I was hoping a safe cruise at 60 miles an hour on I-95. It will be a 9 hour drive.
I was considering paying 1500. to have my 3.21 swapped out for 3.55 gears for peace of mind. I also looked at newer Rams today.
I love my truck because of the ride and great fuel economy, I would hate to give it up for a 5.7 Ram.

What mileage do you get? Shoot, if I drove my 5.7 a little bit more conservatively, I’d probably get close to 20 mpg.

I just did a 4 and a half hour round trip from my home to Joplin Missouri for the big truck show that 4-States Trucks puts on and for filling up after leaving my hotel and running 80-90 pretty much all the way home, my average when I pulled in the driveway was 17. That was with 3 people, luggage and some truck parts I brought home for my cousin cuz he couldn’t fit it all in his Jeep. Going up I averaged 16.5 only because I had almost a week’s worth of short trips to and from my job with idling.

That’s pretty good economy for the HEMI.
I’ve logged every fill up ever since l’ve owned the truck. I average between 20 and 21 mpg mixed driving. 24 was the best I ever got on the expressway. If I take it easy on mixed driving I can get over 500 miles out of a fill up. I did a Jacksonville to key west trip after a stop in marathon for a day. I topped off in key west but probably could have made it back to marathon without filling up.

I forgot to mention it but that’s also with 3:92 diffs and 4-wheel drive.

1-ton dumpy trailer with 4.66 tons of crusher-run... Good thing the quarry was close to home... I had to schedule my stops a week in advance! (b.t.w.... I don't have trailer brake controller)...

Just for the heck of it, I was wondering what the biggest/heaviest things you've towed with your Ram 1500?

I'll start with trailering my Jeep behind the truck. Anywhere more then 100~ miles, I'll trailer the Jeep incase I break something.

P.S. U-haul car haulers don't distribute the weight very well on shorter wheel base vehicles.

Here's some of the bigger things I have towed with my truck. These all traveled over 1,000 miles.
