I don't know if I'm posting this in the right spot. I'm new to the whole posting threads thing. Anyways. I get this high pitch whining coming from somewhere in the engine, but it's hard to pin point. It sounds like a bad belt, but it's possibly a pulley. After looking at the belt, I noticed that one side of it is going bald. I checked all the pulley's but couldn't find any sharp edges that would cause it. I'm going to try to replace the belt to see if that's what's making the noise, but it's going to only be a temporary fix. Hopefully somebody on here has had this problem and can help me fix it.
I have read somewhere that I can check the pulley's by loosening the tension-er, but I'm not the best mechanic alive. I'm sure it's easy, but I don't have the work space (I live in apartments).
Thanks all!
Brian
