Before we moved to SC from Md I used the dealer for a lot of my service work. Yes I can do most of the work myself, but I found it more cost effective, both money and time to just have the dealer do it. Plus I don’t have to dispose of old parts or clean up a mess is my driveway or garage after I’m done.
Like one poster said though, I have found if you have a relationship with a dealer, and are pleasant, they will tend to help you out. Case in point, had a recall on my 2014 Ram a few years back, issue with rear gears. I called and made an appt to have it checked. Service writer pulled my info up in the computer, saw that I purchased the truck there, it was pre-owned, and offered me a no cost loaner car, I accepted. When I arrived for my appt, the service writer recognized my face. Fellow Harley scooter *****, and the said, “man if you don’t mind waiting about an hour I will get your truck in now and have a tech look at it. Not gonna make you go home and come back a day or two, give me a sec”. He went to the service garage, came back with a porter who promptly took my truck in. An hour and ten minutes later it was back out, recall checked and completed, and from oil in both axles. (Recall was on rear only)
Yes I know, long story. But I truly believe they took care of me because of the relationship I had with them, professional and personal over a few yrs.
Now working on a similar thing with a dealer in SC. Hope it’s works out.
