i have a kicker 250.1 pushing 2x kicker pro comp 10 im sure they are 150 rms each

i have it wire to 2ohm so i think 125 rms is going to each sub.

my buddy gave me a mrp m500 which is 500 rms at 2ohm

will it be too much for the subs? will it sound better then what i got already?

IMO, Too much amplifier is a good thing. Speakers sound good being pushed hard, amplifiers do not. You'll just have to be careful and net get punch drunk and blow your subs.

He means adjust the gain and volumes carefully and if you start smelling hot wiring you are driving them to hard lol.

No amp is 100% efficient, so the "500W" will really be closer to what your subs can handle. But like mentioned above, set your gain on the amp carefully and you'll be fine.
I have 1200W feeding a 750w sub, and often wish I had more amp; it clips before the sub gets really working. Ya just hafts be careful. Hell- you could power a tweeter with a 10,000W amp if you wanted, so long as you don't push it too hard.

That amp will also allow your to choose better subs in the future should you want a little more then what you currently have.

Headroom = is what you want. Just keep your gains down. The subs will enjoy it.

I have owned those amps and they work really good for many years...Alpine did a good job with that little amp.
THIS is what I would do IMO
What OHM is your pro comps? DVC?
Since you can pick up an MRP M-500 on Amazon for $129.00, I'd buy another one so you can run the amps mono and get more power to the subs....
That way you can either get 300 watts/per sub @ 4ohms
OR you can run a 2 ohm load and get 500 watts/per sub
It'll make all the difference in the world

Remember, WATTS do not fry speakers....distortion and clipping does
Iam running 360 watts to each door speaker (which are rated at 150 watts) and there isn't a hint of distortion and they are happy happy
