Will there be a 2017 Ram 1500 Hellcat?

Yes, I would imagine that it would only start out around those PR's. I would imagine that you could buy an R/T like yours and put 10K into it and have as much if not more performance than the Hellcat motor.

As someone with Hellcat-like power levels and handling I'll give you a very brief rundown as it's DEFINITELY not a $10K job to get to 700hp unless you're working on a cummins.

Engine: currently 738rwhp; so far I'm $15K with a forged 5.7L (non-stroker) with a D1SC but am upgrading to a F1-C and a cog drive
Transmission: luckily my 1st is holding just fine so I'm only in $3K for that
Suspension: Easily $10K in parts, upgrades, and custom work but it does handle amazingly well
Dyno tuning: $3K
Original price of vehicle: $25K used, new would be $45K

So with that you're looking at a price tag of $56K used and $76K new, and that's with me doing the work myself. It's not cheaper to build it yourself plus I have zero warranty and it's all cobbled together so only I know what's truly going on under the hood which makes it impossible to take it to a shop to do the work.

10k for a rebuild ?? I can see the 10k for the 'charger. For that money should have more than 700 hp

I know a certain engine right now that has 25-30k in it, no turbo, no 'charger, no NOS, single 4 bbl, 1200 hp, 950 ft lbs Dyno proven.

And it rides in a 78 cutlass body.....5.1 sec in the 1/8, front tires in the air the whole way, on 10" slicks.

it is a bit more than 5.7l tho.....more like 9.8l

Good luck getting a 5.7L to hold 700 hp reliably and drive like OEM for less than 10k.

^^This.

Even a bolt-on D1SC blower will maybe take you up to 550rwhp and that's $5K of your budget; stroker short block will be another 7K so now you're at 600rwhp; ported heads and cam will be about another $5K lucky if you get it to 700rwhp; 65rfe trans will be $4K unless it's an 8 speed then there's currently no upgrade except the $12K for the 8hp90 but then you have major software issues to deal with; That's just the power requirements to say nothing of the tuning and suspension upgrades it would require to come close to a hellcat's performance.

Why would you wanna take a vehicle with that kind of goodness to a shop anyway. Whenever I see a "higher end car" in a "lower end shop" I always think of Farris Buelers Day Off. I have a hard time trusting shops these days anyway.

I can do probably 90% of the work on my truck myself but there are things that should be left to a professional who has done the job more than once. I used to live in a condo, you're not exactly allowed to drop a transmission in the parking lot and even less desirable when it's -20 outside. It's a different story now that I have a shop of my own but things like alignments, gears, any welding, or paint/body work is something I leave to pros. I take mine to a really seedy looking NAPA certified shop but they're one of the best custom frame builders in the city even though you'll see lots of crappy Kia's and other run down cars in front of it since they keep afloat by doing general maintenance.
