I put "limo tint"(no idea what % it is) the day after I purchased my 97. I believe it's the reason my interior has stayed in such great shape. Plus, I use a windshield sunscreen every time it's parked (which is most of the time). My dash isn't even cracked, although the exterior paint is practically non-existent. Dodge quality paint...lol
My Tahoe has factory tint on the rear glass. As ya get older, backing up on a country/ mountain road or in the woods really sucks....even with LED flood lights hooked up to my backup lights.

So I have a crew cab and want to get my driver and passenger side windows tinted. Curious, is the factory tint for second row of the crew cab 20%. I was debating between either 20% or 35% for the front windows and do 5% strip on the windshield. If you have 20%, how hard is it to see out at night? Appreciate any info!

I have 20% on the fronts, and it matches really well ... Love it during the day ... City driving at night is no issue ... Country roads with no lights, you can’t see ****, but you can see headlights fine031302ffa4ad370952afc697b4503d9f.jpg

I'll take 70%. Here in NJ we are not allowed to have any tint on the front side windows. Back side and rear windows we can have anything.

Nice. I guess that goes hand in hand with no self serve gas pumps! Who makes these laws? Lol

I have 20% on the fronts and 5% on top of the factory for the rear doors, and rear windows. Also a 5% front strip.
In Florida on a truck any window behind the driver can be as dark as you want. My fronts are a little darker than allowed though with the sunroof cover open you can see straight through so I don't foresee any issues.

As BOWERSFJ pointed out county roads at night can be a bit dark. Also while backing a boat in at night the rear window is no good at all.

Lights bars on front and back along with brighter reverse and cargo area bulbs do help. :)

This setup is perfect for me. I drive mostly during the day and park without shade. Just venting my windows a little keeps the interior "cool" relative to what it would be without tint.

I'm thinking that keeping my back windows 'stock tint' and making the front sides 20% with a 5% might not be too dark... Just weighing out the night driving and giving cops a reason to pull me over, lol

I’m running 5% all the way around with a 5% strip across the front. Can be a little sketchy a night lol. Lots of trucks (and cars) running around here like this.

U know dat not legal, if U get stopped and the PO PO has a tint meter, gonna be $$$$$$$$. But alas, yer truck, yer decision...

On my 2002 Ram Sport, I matched the front tint with the back windows. It was too dark at times. With my '15 Ram Sport, I did the same thing but the windows weren't as dark. Sorry, I'm not sure what the percentage was/is.

It is my understanding NY is actually using / enforcing the Federal tint level standard...........

Yes definitely, inspection places wont pass it or they could be held accountable. I understand too dark but 50% would be better and still see in just fine.
Few of my buddies get them tinted anyway and i do see alot around but they have connections, i dont need any reason to get pulled over.

I have 15 all around (on top of factory) and 50 on the entire windshield. Normally, I’m used to 35 on the entire windshield but whatever. I have the Formula 1 Pinnacle. Most definitely go with ceramic. It is WELL worth the extra money. I do wish my front two were darker and will probably have them darkened up soon.

A prior owner of my truck installed the window tinting on the front door windows. The rear door windows and solid rear window are factory tinted. The front windows are slightly darker than the stock tinted rear windows. I live out in the country and commute to Reno daily for work. At night when turning the visibility is really hampered. I'm thinking of having the fronts redone in lighter tint to help improve the side vision at night.

Back in 1988 I had my Jeep Cherokee tinted all the way around. I wanted to go "Limo-Tint" but the shop informed me that they couldn't do that tint for the front windows. They did recommend a couple of shades lighter for the front glass due to night visibility issues. I'm glad I followed their advice.

Comparing the two rigs for night time driving - the lighter tinted front windows is much safer. Looking at the rigs from the outside, the windows didn't appear that different. I'd recommend driving a tinted car at night if you haven't done so already. That will give you an idea what to expect.

Ceramic. Don’t know what your tint guy offers but mine sells Llumar ATR (metallized), Formula 1 Pinnacle ($$$), and Formula 1 Stratos ($$$$$). The last two being the nano ceramic which actually rejects IR. Inside the truck will actually feel cooler.

I called and asked, and it sounds like they offer the same. I'm going with the Formula 1 Pinnacle ceramic tint.

Nice! The Stratos is nice but looking at the specs on it compared the Pinnacle I didn’t think the extra $500 was going to feel THAT much different. I could be wrong but I have no compaints about mine other than I wish I would have had them do the front two door in 5%.

Just debating now on the tint. They said that one comes in either 30% or 15%...

0E13ACE7-B32A-4C0A-B6C0-5A12D8690018.jpeg 15 in the back is extremely dark when combined with the the shade of the factory tint. I like dark tint so it doesn’t bother me. Pinnacle comes in the common shades but I think Stratos is only 15,35 and 50. 11577B36-D423-44A5-AB94-DA7C2C9596DC.jpeg
