View attachment 191431 15 in the back is extremely dark when combined with the the shade of the factory tint. I like dark tint so it doesn’t bother me. Pinnacle comes in the common shades but I think Stratos is only 15,35 and 50. View attachment 191430
Looks good! I'm not adding anything to the factory tint, just doing the front side windows and the strip so if I do go either 30 or 35% I'm hoping the factory will make it a little darker... I think 15% is just going to be too dark for me (night driving).

Whichever shade you pick, with the ceramic, you’ll still be getting the IR and UV protection which is what’s really important IMO.

True! At some point, I may get the second row tinted to ceramic as well. Going to try the two front ones out for now, but it will definitely beat not having any protection as of now on the fronts!

Thanks for the pic! I wish there was an in-between like 25 or something, haha.

There’s one called Air 80. It’s a clear film with the protection. Always an option if you don’t want to darken anything like your back glass.

I had 50% put on the rears - the change in darkness is all but nil. It was added strictly for the UV/IR resistance. Just food for thought.

Has anyone noticed a change is color when doing just the front windows? My driver's and passenger's at 20% look the same as the factory rears from the outside, however from the inside there's a cool blue tint in the front compared to the rear which has a warmer tone.

Some trucks you can really see it in bright sunlight on the outside.

looks nice! Was wondering about country roads at night. Don’t travel on too many, but good to know! What about in the day time? Any issues seeing?

Honestly, it depends on the state you have the truck registered in. Some states you can go as dark as you want and others u can notdo it at all. Look up the mvc in your state to see what ur allowed to do.

Any darker than 30% will have reduced visibility on non lite roads in the boonies. Then again it depends on your comfort level and visual acuity of your eyes 20/20 vision vs 20/40 vision etc. With glasses contacts. Are you near sited far sited , etc. All this plays roles the darker your tints are.

There some ceramic tints now that are supposed to offer more heat and sun protection than the older tints did. They can be applied to the windshield as well.
The people I know that have done the windshield swear by it. Plan on doing it myself.

So I have a crew cab and want to get my driver and passenger side windows tinted. Curious, is the factory tint for second row of the crew cab 20%. I was debating between either 20% or 35% for the front windows and do 5% strip on the windshield. If you have 20%, how hard is it to see out at night? Appreciate any info!

The window tint guys can make your front match the factory windows in the back. I did this and works great. Knocks down all the sun rays to an un-noticeable level. Too dark is problem, especially at night.

I have 20% on the fronts, and it matches really well ... Love it during the day ... City driving at night is no issue ... Country roads with no lights, you can’t see ****, but you can see headlights fine031302ffa4ad370952afc697b4503d9f.jpg

I had this issue on an old Town & Country van I owned and found that if you put vent visors on and crack the window a bit you can see just fine, a bit cold during the winter though.

Your light transmission will be noticeable, but the conductive nature of the sun you truck will heat up just the same regardless of how dark the tint is. It just takes a few minutes longer. The 20% will match nicely, and with the amount of light through the front window daytime vision will be fine. If your an Uber driving and searching for addresses in the nightie 20% would be the difference of rolling down your window to verify numbers etc... they do make a 30% but not all shops carry this due to most states having a 35% law most people go to that. 20% looks best for blending the cab appearance, but may not be legal. I have a medical exemption for sensitive eyes (photophobia) that allows me to go as dark as I want. That said front window tinting is illegal in all 50 states with the “eyebrow” strip of top 4-6”inches. It’s been my experience If you drive late at night the tint is a reason to pull you over and check for dui, warrants etc. rarely is that reason used during the day. Good luck to you and your decision!

Good point! Well... Now wondering if 30% would be a good balance or 25 or if going 25 might as well go 20?
from my experience you cant choose anything- its like 70-50-35-20-5% i believe. I started with 50% on the fronts and though it did improve the look,i swapped it for 35%. Its not as dark as the back but its close enough for my needs and I can still see out at night well enough to back in close to the wall of my house without putting the window down. Cops say 35% around here is accepatable-they want to be able to see in if someone is raising there arms for example. I can understand that+ it looks cool enough for me!DSC00559.JPG

I can tell you that I wouldn’t do 5% on your sides no matter how good it looks I have been meaning to change mine to at least 20% because I actually have to put my windows down at night just to make a turn I love the way it looks and I live in Michigan with 50% legal and have had no issues with tickets

Supposed to get the tint done tomorrow. The ceramic nano that they have is 50, 30 (may have been 35) or 15. After consideration for night driving, I'm going to go with the 30 or 35 tint. Seeing how 20 can be difficult at night depending on the situation, 15 would be too dark. Maybe not in the daytime, but definitely at night. I do use my backup camera, but I'm still 'old-school' and use my mirrors the most to still backup, lol.
