I'm sure this has been discussed before, But looking for input on 33 or 34 inch tires for a 20 inch rim... Doesn't really seem to be a lot of choice out there, I've been debating picking up a set of 17" rims just to widen my winter tire choices.

I would recommend going down in wheel size one for the tire choices and two the extra sidewall will create a softer ride and have some flex helping with traction vs less sidewall has less flex resulting in more sliding, sounds stupid but its what ive noticed over the years

Duratracs! They're amazing on slippery and snowy roads. I'm very happy with mine! Plus they look awesome lol

Get some 17" rims as planned, then get a winter tire setup. I went 265 70 17. Narrower than stock and has more sidewall. I got these for the reasons mentioned, better ride - the roads heave from the frost and are rougher - and narrower to cut through snow a little bit better. I went with Bridgestone Blizzaks DM-V1, got them through Tirerack. They are amazing to say the least. They look great and track incredible. We got dumped on last week and the roads were brutal on the way home at midnight, I played with all 3 settings (2 wheel, 4 auto, 4 lock) for fun and experimental purposes LOL. All 3 worked amazing, with each obvious one better than the other. The truck feels like it can go through anything winter has to offer with ease. I hate winter, but these Blizzaks will get me around no problem!!!! :favorites13:

I had blizzaks on my old car and loved them... I think I will go for the 17s... If for nothing other than to keep the salt and crap off of my 20s

I put the Hankook i pike RW11 directional winter tires on my '14, P275/60R20, 33" tall. Our first snow storm here in Western NY we got 6' of snow at work and I had no problem getting around on the unplowed roads with these tires, very happy with the traction.

Toyo Observes or Nokian hakkapalitta's take a look at those.
I had hakkapalitta tires on my 2011 for winter. They were great in light slush and ice. As soon as you were bombing through 4" of snow they didn't work so hot. Thread pattern isn't aggressive enough on them. One night I had to move my dad's truck and mine up a big hill at my house. We had maybe 5" of snow on it. It was all my truck could do to get to the top in 4wd but my dad's f 150 (winter force tires) walked up like I was no big deal
Hmmmmmm too bad you can't test drive tires!

I like the Nokians for Ice way more than for snow as well. The Toyo's are in a league of their own for traction and tread life though.

Those were what I was originally thinking of getting... And I think they may be on sale next week at Canadian Tire,

Ended up biting the bullet today on a set of Blizzaks dmv1 in 275/60r20. Nice ride, quiet and still corners well, took the highway off ramp way to fast to **** off a cop who already had someone pulled over but I didn't even hear a peep from the tires. Got a wicked deal on them, after I was quoted $2200Canadian from the firestone dealer earlier in the morning, I ended up getting them installed with tax for $1300 Canadian.

Actually you can, toyo has a 500 miles trial period.

How do you like the intune by the way? Now that the price of gas is down, I've definintely been thinking about getting a high octane tune
