I just got a notice of a wiper recall. I think it only includes 2019 and 2020 Rams. Just thought I'd put this out there. I wonder if it's worth taking in? I'll look into it later, probably do it myself if the fix is just to tighten a couple of nuts.

I saw that on the news a couple nights ago. Effects some 500K+ vehicles. Probably going to be a quick fix for the dealer so don't think it would take much time. Question is how long until they can get parts?

Or maybe they will just weld it? .....(Poor joke based on the way they handled the HD truck track bar recall)...

Just bought my 2019 and this actually happened to me, I was headed to the city and it started raining, right wiper arm wasn't moving, took it to a dealership and they simply tightened the arm, it was loose, so its probably stripped now because I drove it for 50 miles like that, Ha!

I called my local dealership and scheduled an appointment for a Thursday. They said it'll take about 45 minutes so I'm thinking it's more than tightening a couple of nuts. They had to make sure that they had parts.

R&R'ing the upper cowl plastic to get to the nuts is probably the majority of that time.

So it’s not just removing that cap in pic and then re-torquing wiper nut? I know on my wife’s Durango it’s that simple but I’m new to RAM.

If splines dont match, or possibly stripped. i can tell you "tightening" is a very temporary fix. Go FCA.

If that is where the issue is,but if they need to replace any of the spindle assembly they need under the cowl cover, and if there's parts involved,i'm guessing they need under the cowl,as that piece the arm is attached to,comes out from underneath as far as I know

There’s no torque spec for the nuts in that recall. It’s literally remove the 2 caps off the wiper nuts and tighten nuts 90 degrees. No parts required or anything.

More likely just to check if not is crossthreded and or actually seated and torqued properly. When I worked in that area the federal electric gun would register good even if cross threaded. So if a new operator or tpt didn't start nut by hand it is so easy to not secure wiper arm and pass.

It’s for improperly formed splines of the head joint on the wiper arm.

My 2019 does this too. Dealer here might see my truck in a few weeks, then keep it for days just to tighten a nut. Their schedule hasn't worked for me yet. Love the truck, not so for the service department.
