Well as the summer is coming up soon I will be home for summer break and start putting in my mods.
My list is going to be
wheels and 35's
tuner
true duals
headers ( shorties I got a 2500)
leveling kit
Intake (Have one already)
Maybe new throttle body.
Thats all I can think of for now and for this summer.

But I was looking into cams from Moes, and just wondering what Kind of gains I could expect from putting one in?
Hp and torgue? How much?
I read I would need a custom tune for it so reason I ask is because I would do all my mods at once and then put in a custom tube so I dont have to spend money one 2 tunes.

What are advantaged and disadvantages of a cam? I was told it wouldnt be good in the winter and I dont know why that would be.

Anyway just looking for info on that because I would like to plan and maybe invest in one.
Thanks

Moes has a few for ya. For your truck go with a comp 260 or an Inertia Crazy Jay or Crazy Spartan. If your looking at that get a Diablo tuner so you can have custom files written for the cam. Far as not driving a cammed truck in winter I don't see why. I drive mine in winter when I need to get around in snow and ice and Danny up north has run a few diff cams in winter. HP and trq all depends on the truck and #s can be all over the place. What's the budget? Your list is looking good.

Like Kenny said, with you having a heavy 2500, you want to go with 1 of the tq cams that he mentioned. Pair that up with a nice tune and a better tq converter and it is going to completely transform your truck.

As far as budget for the cam $400 is a good price. If I get a Diablo, who can I send it to to get a custom tune? What gains can I get of the tune and also the cam?
Not really sure how much a tune costs but under $600- $700 would be nice. How much would the original tuner cost and then get a custom one?

For the most part I just want to get prices so I can plan ahead and buy everything.

How much is a new tq converter? Got any examples of ones to get?
I dont think that is something I could install myself unless people have done it.

I do a lot of mmy mods myself so I dont have to pay for labor and get to learn how to do things.

The inertia cams list for $450 because they tend to be custom cut from Crower. I have ran 2 of their cams. The Comp is cheaper because its more mass produced so that fits your budget with room to spare. Far as tuning Hemifever on here does email tunes and can work a package deal I believe. Check out the stickie at the top of the performance section and will cover the main things that go in with Camming your truck.
Far as a verter edge are proven in the trucks and a good price to boot. They are on the Moes site in the trans section.

$450 wouldnt be a problem especially if it is better. Ok I will look into all of that. When the time comes I will get in touch with Hemifever when the time comes for a tune

$450 isn't the actual price of the parts and install of a cam, the cam itself will be $400-$450 but once you add springs, push rods, gaskets, misc tools, oils, fluids etc. you'll be looking close to a grand. A tuner that can do a custom tune will maximize the performance of the cam and allow you to run a bigger more aggressive cam. If you go with the 260 though since it is a milder torque can you can run a superchips tuner and get tuning for your trans. just depends on what you want to do and how big you want to go.

I knew that would be the price for just the cam. I didnt know that I would need springs, rods. I knew the fluids also which is expected. Got any examples of stuff I would need? Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks

Skip the wheels, tires and level and do all the motor work first :driver:. Your gonna like the new found power that those mods will show, when you level and go bigger tires it will pull some away from that.

That is true. At the very least though I have to get bigger tires because mine are way too small right now. Will a tuner be able to recalculate my speedometer though if I get bigger tires?
