This is one of the best things I've ever read on a message board. Yep, you're right and millions of people driving 3/4 ton trucks are wrong.

The fact that I'll beat you to the top of the hill scares me since then I'll be in front of you going down the other side.

:favorites13:

I currently have 1500, added tuftruck stiffer rear springs. I know it's not air bags but funny thing, my towing capacity stayed exactly the same....

BTW, 2016 mustang V6 0-60 5.3 seconds, only 0.8 sec off the GT and 200 lbs lighter. Not too shabby.

So you're 1500 with air bags will tow what a 2500 will? You're 1500 towing is faster than a 2500 towing? If these are what your implying I'm punching you in the ******* face through this phone.

His info says he has a 6.4, so looks like he as a 2500. I think he was referring to Thatdude596 joking about not needing a 2500, just putting airbags on a 1500 and towing just as much.

The comment about beating him up the hill was meant like he was scared going down the hill because a 1500 would be behind him pulling a load that was too big for a 1/2 ton to handle.

I think this is what he meant, I could be wrong.

Well I'm dumb. In off topic news, my 2015 ranger that was stolen Wednesday was found today.

On hilly roads with a lifted truck and heavy ass 35's, you bet I am. Show me one other person who gets close to that with a set up like mine.

Here is a funny thing. 2015 Ram 2500 6.4l 3.73 C.C. S.B. 4x4. Empty weight per sticker is 6900lbs. I have 240lbs of sand bags, I'm 240, baby seat, booster with 6yr old in it, plus running boards and bed cover. At least 7300lbs rolling down the highway.

Topped her off today, 14*F and calm, and set out with cruise set to 52mph. NO hypermiling. No flat lands. Started East then turned and came back west on same route.

I was watching my MPG read out and was thinking, "holy ****. Winter gas is killing my mileage." Ended the 42.0 mile round trip at 18.9 indicated.

Somewhat defeated I stuck the nozzle in the filler and watched the gallons expecting a little over 2.

Click. 1.73 gal. Well that can't be right. Turn it back on. Click. Wtf? Again. Click. Well I guess 1.835 is it.

42.0 miles ÷ 1.835g = 22.89mpg on winter fuel on a 14* day with 240lbs of sand bags and pushing over 7300lbs.

I now have to go nurse my bruised ego after the embarrassment of driving 52. I couldn't bring myself to make eye contact with the other drivers zooming by.

Man that's awesome. It looks like these 6.4s can turn in some really impressive unloaded mileage for a 3/4 ton truck, as yours isn't the first story I've read bragging on them.

It really wasn't bragging. More of an example that MPG claims are so varied, and mainly because of driving styles. You will have the guy who can't drive anywhere without putting his foot through the floor, drives 8mph over all posted speed limits, idles his truck everywhere he stops, and complains about terrible mileage. Then you have the guy like I quoted who drives 50mph and hypermiles while using the two different types of driving to show why his truck and drivetrain choice is superior. He claimed his brothers 6.4 gets ~10mpg and his father's cummins gets less mpg than his lifted on 35's 1500. I can kinda believe the the cummins as it is a 2012 and the emissions **** on those kills mileage. Delete it and get 4mpg back. But no way a 6.4 gets 10 mpg driving 50mph. Mine was in MDS more than not.

My father has a 2012 800 RZR 50" and then bought a 2009 800 XP 60" that had like 600 miles on it and was used by a woman to drive from their flathead lake cabin to town for groceries. It had gas shocks and rode like a dream, but it was too wide for a lot of the challenging mountain trails. He just sold it in AZ and bought a new 54" 900 XC.

Corrections below^

I don't drive 80 kmh, I did it once to see what kind of mileage could be had. I consistently do 90 kmh and constantly get 12L/100 kms.

My cousin gets 10-12 mpg with his 6.4. Fuelly average is 12.7 for that engine. As I mentioned to you earlier it's possible that because the truck has 1000 kms on it he will gain the extra mpg and be on par with what everyone else gets with that truck. Which as stated above is an average of 12.7.

My father does not have a Ram truck. My uncle has a 12 cummins, as I mentioned earlier a few times, it is deleted. I didn't ever say what his mileage is because I don't know. I listed the fuelly average for that engine, which is much better than the 6.4.

Side note - my dad's 2013 F-250 diesel gets slightly better mileage than my truck. Not deleted, only a Bully dog Turner and an AFE intake.

When exactly did I say the 6.4 gets 10 mpg when doing 80 kmh? Please quote it for me so I can see it as I'm sure I wouldn't have ever said that.

Surely when going slower that truck would get better mileage, as any vehicle would. I stated that the overall mpg average of that engine is not great in comparison to the cummins.

You didn't directly compare them, however you did use his average of 10-11 an d his father's 18 to compare indirectly to your 23 when hypermiling at 50mph and 19mpg at 56mph as proof your truck gets better milage than any 2500. What do they average at 50 or 56? Im thinking a 2014+ cummins with 3.42 gears will knock down that kind of mileage and better! Hell, I bet the deleted 2012 will too. I even showed that at 14*, -10 for you, with crappy winter gas from a pump that has "may contain up to 10% ethanol", 2500 6.4 hemi at a vehicle weight more than your GVWR can get 23mpg at 50.

Also comparing fuelly numbers of a 1500 to 2500 isn't apples to oranges either unless it separately averages loaded and empty mileage. Owners of 2500, especially cummins likely tow more often and heavier weight.

I don't know why you're so against a 2500 gasser considering you only have a 1500. Not everyone's wants and needs and budget require a diesel. Yes they will out pull a gasser. That's been established. So unless you plan on paying for everyone to upgrade to a diesel, pipe down on the diesel is the only option garbage. Owned both know what both are capable of, know what I need. Don't need to be told what I should get
