I will say this about ethanol, yes I hate it because we have gas available, but it does burn cleaner by a lot. Hard on the engines, easy on the environment. Here is a video on how much cleaner.

Couldnt we just design the engine AROUND ethanol like RAM did for 20W oil....?

LOL

JK

But seriously, engines COULD be made to handle %100 ethanol with a long life in mind. The government just wants to keep us on an oil buzz...

$$$$$

Ha ha , I can see it now in 2018 with a 2020 deadline , fiat / chrysler representative will walk in a room of engineers and throw a qt of 16wt oil & a gal of ethonal on the table and say Build me an engine around this ...LOL

Actually not too far fetched ?

5w20? Misprint? What was the last oil you used?

Why would 5w-20 be a Missprint?

Because the viscosity @ 100° c is 12.67 that's in the 40wt range .

But he did use 2qts of vavoline makeup & Lucus oil stabilizer which explains the thicker oil ...

Well, step one is under way. I added the MOS2 to my ticking Amsoil SS last night. She was tapping pretty good this morning, so we shall see as the miles add up, if there will be any benefit. I will report back good, bad, or indifferent.

Just looking at something in Stovie's lifter fail, a pic on a Hemi cam in bad shape. He was using a non moly oil. I was looking for another guy that used lucas and also had a cam lifter fail and had the dealer tell him there was nothing but sludge in his hemi. I wouldn't be using this stuff, the hemi just isn't like other vehicles where you can just drop anything in there.

I gave it a yoman's effort, the thread is here, a dude used lucas stabilizer and his cam failed and his oil was toast. If someone can find that thread, my thanks to you. The common issues that come of with these cam lifter fails are pretty eye opening. I am convinced every one who owns a hemi should spend a lot more time with lubrication then other vehicles, especially in the crankcase. If you have hemi tick, what do you think that cam lob looks like when it hits that roller under the lifter? When you are in that condition, something has to give. If the lifter is not smoothly lifting, you will have wear on the roller or the cam lob, or both.

I was kicking around doing a flush just to see if my hemi tick will come back, I look at this pic about and say to hell with that, lol. I won't be experimenting other then 5w20 redline or 5w30 redline. If someday my cam looks like that, it will not be because I didn't try my best to prevent it.

Thanks to StoviAZ for the pic.

Random pic of a roller, ouch?

Man, it's been about 30 years since I sent anything out for oil analysis. I did it then because we had two company trucks with the Navijunk/Intrashnational 6.9 diesels that had horrendous oil consumption problems, and lots of other problems too. I had a string of samples with iron levels off the charts. On the first one the lab actually called the shop to recommend taking the truck out of service LOL. Ford's response was, "We do not recognize oil analysis as a diagnostic tool". I may consider trying it again.

On Edit: I didn't mean to sound like I am discrediting UOA, just too lazy to do it. I just want to kill the tick.

Either way we would love to see it (if you decide to do it), or hear your thoughts on how MOS2 preformed

Got my redline delivered, first I thought it was individually wrapped in the box, but this dude takes the redline case and bubble wraps the entire case and puts it in another box, lol. It is free shipping if you get the case, best price I've seen in years.

Not a bad idea given how some of my packages have showed up. I am pretty sure that most delivery services save space by dragging my orders behind the truck.

Took a coldstart and warm start video after work today. My phone absolutely sucks with sound quality and you can hardly hear anything from the fan noise and the wind noise. Have to Find another way.

Reguardless i think it will be interesting to compare videos of engine noise without and with Redline. i'll try doing it inside my garage next time with both hot and cold with my current amsoil and then redline (after a good 700 miles).
