To be fair it isn't just Amsoil but almost every oil that is trying to meet API ILSAC GF-6 and the previous gov't lower standard 700ppm zinc to meet API. Heavy duty oils and some boutiques stay away from the API donut for that reason, they don't want to ruin what their science says is good oil. Amsoil like others are making oils that are the future of what gas engines will be, DI Turbo's. Maybe or maybe not the best oil for a hemi, for every owner to make thier own choice on that.

How's the new oil standards going to affect the turbo users?

That's kinda what I was thinking. The eco boost is DI so it should be using the new oil but from what I've heard they are allready hard in oil. Double whammy for them.Just one thing i have thought of. Turbo enges are generally harder on oil and they are making the oil less “protective”. So the oil will defanitly not hold up near as long.
But, manufacturers are going to continue to push longer OCI because they dont give a **** about engine life.
Maybe I've just got too much old school left in me but I'm thinking this LSPI issue has been created by the manufactures upping the compression ratios and boosting the engines for performance and still claiming to be able to run 87 octane gas. Back in the day anything above 10 to 1 was premium gas.

LOL , maybe Syn ran a 6+ qt mixture of the 0W- 40 wt in his 1500 , 5.7L can't remember....Hey Guys, been reading pages and pages of posts in the synthetic oil thread with some great info from all you guys. I have a '17 Big Horn w 5.7 Hemi and I just purchased my 20-820 RP Oil filter & PUP 0w40 & 5w30 for my second oil change at 10k. I was planning to mix 3q- 40w & 4q- 30w but I noticed recently RLK or SYN is very happy with 6q -40w & 1q-30w. Which is best for my winter oil change? I'm in sunny Buffalo NY lol. Appreciate your feedback!!

I ran a 50/50 mix of the PUP 0W-40 & PUP 5W-30 ..That's 3.5qts of each , I was happy with it I guess , but I had a very faint tick start up at about 2,500 mile mark So I went back to Redline.
I do however think the PUP is a fantastic oil and even in the harsh winter's of the NE I believe a 50/50 mix would be fine ...if you worried about the outside temps and high oil pressure just substitute the 30wt PUP with the 20wt PUP , but definitely use 3 to 4 qts of the PUP 0W-40 IMO, as the 0W-40 PUP has a higher level of Molybdenum...witch the 5.7 L lifters and cam seem to really like [emoji44]
Hope this helps you Sir !

Thanks for quick reply RLK. I'm liking what I've been reading about the 0w-40w PUP ........is it true that the 6.4 Hemi runs 0w-40 from the factory?? Why would the 5.7 require the mix w 5w30 or 5w20???
