I have a 2015 bighorn. I'd like a bigger tank as well. I refill every 3 days. I'd rather get 5 days out of it. Be about 10 more gallons and how about a capless refill like that other company is putting on their cars as well.

Love my '18 power wagon. It's a tank and gets tank like MPG. That in of itself doesn't bother me. But with a 31 gal tank @10mpg, that's ~300 miles range. Not an issue when there is a gas station all around, but on long trips off-roading, where it can get down to 3mpg, I do get some range anxiety.

Short of jerry can's or rotopax's, are there any auxiliary fuel tank options?

I just looked up my vin# and mine has the additional 5.1 gallons larger tank. I thought all of the power wagons came with that option as they are thirsty. So an option is to buy the larger factory tank. 2018 PW

5.1 gallons larger then what? My guess is 5.1 larger then a 26 gallon tank. I've never seen anything larger in a power wagon then the 31. I have seen that on window stickers before and it was still a 31-32 gallon tank. I don't see a larger tank listed as an option when you spec a truck either?

That tank is the biggest reason I ditched my Power Wagon. I knew it was going to get bad mpg but stopping at the gas station every couple days got old real quick

That’s a ploy. If you have a PW, you have the same 31 gal tank that I do.

Ah. Makes sense. Curious did you guys get a full tank of gas when you bought your trucks (if new?). My dealer only put in $40 worth. :)

Pretty sure mine was full when I picked it up, but I’ve put $15k in gas through it since I bought it, so I wouldn’t have sweat it if they gave it to me empty, full or anywhere in between.

That’s the gas they put in it to get it from the factory to your dealership. It’s not a 5.2 gallon larger fuel tank.

So are you guys saying that my salesman "lied" to me. LOL I would like to run it completely empty to see how much i can get in it.

Call your parts department with your VIN number, ask for the part number for your fuel tank. Look up that part number and see the capacity for yourself.

Or trust the line item on your build sheet that says “31 Gallon Fuel Tank”.

This might be confusing if the build sheet said “31 gallons of gas” and “5.2 addition gallons of gas”, or “31 gallon fuel tank” and “5.2 additional gallons fuel tank”. But it’s not. There’s a line item for the fuel tank. And a line item for the gas in the fuel tank.

Maybe they should include a line item for misinformed and/or lying salesperson. Everybody seems to have one of those. ;)

^that missing line item is typically in big bold letters centered at the top of the page, or just look outside for the building signage.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but you guys left me hanging. I'm still a little ticked that my 2001 half ton has 3 more gallons especially when I'm towing heavy across Kansas getting 7 mpg.

@AFMoulton, did you pull the trigger on a bigger tank?

Why cant you put a reserve tank with a left and right switch in the cab like the Fords had two tanks. I don't know much about the gas range because most city driving here. Also tons of gas stations here. I think my Laramie came with a 36 gallon tank which I was happy about .My big horn that I had came with a small tank, pain in the ass always filling up.

Would have to modify your exhaust as the passenger side is occupied by the muffler.
