How does the ORP and Air Suspension get the 1" lift?

I'm not sure how the 1" lift on the ORP and Air Suspension is achieved.

With the ORP Air Suspension in Normal mode it is 1" higher than the non ORP Air Suspension. When lowered to Entry Mode, the ORP Air Suspension lowers 3" while the non ORP Air Suspension lower 2" to the same Entry height.

The ORP Air Suspension follows the Rebel 4 mode/height changes while the non ORP Air Suspension has 5 modes. Both have the same 4" range from lowest to highest but the Normal and Aero mode heights are 1" different from the ORP and non ORP systems.

Because the Entry mode elevation is the same and the highest Off Road mode elevation is the same and the 4" elevation change is the same, could it be just a different programed setting in the computer where the Normal and Aero modes are 1" higher on the ORP Air Suspension?

If it is just a programmed setting, can it be changed to lower my Limited ORP Air Suspension system Normal and Aero mode 1" and will I get a better/softer ride with the lower (less air) and softer air suspension? Also lower Aero mode to get better fuel economy.

Some have talked about changing the air suspension control arms for different ride heights but don't the control arms just connect to and control a sensor that communicates with a controller for height mode adjustments? Can't the controller be reprogramed for different heights for each mode?

IIRC it was mentioned in another forum that dealer could not access those settings. Someone would have to hack the controller...

Maybe this will help from another thread:

The offroad package gets its lift via different struts in the front with a higher seat for the spring, while the rear gets it via a longer spring.

...

you can purchase the front struts and rear springs from Ram that would be used on a non offroad package truck.

ORP with Air Suspension still lowers the truck to the same height in Entry mode as the non-ORP trucks but raises it to 1" higher in Normal mode than non-ORP trucks (raises 3" vs 2"). My Limited w/ORP only has one higher level OR mode that is 1" higher than Normal mode for a total 4" of lift. The non-ORP trucks have 2 higher levels OR1 & OR2, 1" and 2" higher than Normal for the same 4" lift from Entry level.

With the Air Suspension both the ORP and non-ORP lower to the same Entry mode elevation and have a total lift of 4" from Entry level. It seems to me that the Air Suspension just different "Normal" mode setpoints where with the ORP the Normal mode setpoint is 1" higher than the non-ORP Normal mode setpoint where the ORP Normal mode height is equal to the non-ORP OR1 mode height. It would be like running the non-ORP in OR1 mode as normal.

If there are spacers and longer springs then how does the ORP lower to the same Entry mode height as non-ORP?

The shocks are supposed to be different on the ORP package, maybe stiffer, but I'm not sure with the Air Suspension.

I think the best would be to change the setpoint height on the ORP for Aero mode to drop not 1/2" from normal but 1 1/2" to match the same height as the non-ORP Aero mode height for a lower center of gravity, better MPG and maybe a softer ride.

Alfaobd under "air suspension" there is a calibrate option so it seems like there is some electronic adjustment possible.
I haven't gotten the bypass adalter for my Limited yet, so I haven't been able to pursue it any further.

I have some of the answers:

The height is programmed in 1" higher on the ORG . Some say it can be changed with the WiTech program.

The ORP shocks are "Extra" HD shocks on ORG and HD shocks on non ORG. That's why it is a littler stiffer ride.

I would still like to be able to lower the Aero mode down to non ORG height (to drop it an additional 1") for better mpg.

Dunno about the springs, but shocks have no effect on ride height*, other than how long it takes to get there, i.e. 4 milliseconds versus 2 milliseconds etc.

*unless minimum/maximum extension is (attempted to be) exceeded.
