Awesome, thank you for the picture. I’ll have to pull my door panel and check it out.

Here’s another location, but I believe this is for a regular cab. My rear door didn’t have enough depth to be able to get the handle trim ring back on. nnNkuBd.jpg

That’s on my build list. Going to be fun.

The handles are the same for the 1500s/2500,etc.

Max steel metallic driver handle- 1UJ831ARAH

Passenger handle- 1UJ881ARAH

Edit: never mind those numbers. Those are with chrome.

OK thanks - yeah for whatever reason I'm not able to locate any full body color Rear door handles in Max Steel Metallic, either 1500 or 2500. I did see "Steel" color in the 2500 rear door parts list/schematic, that might be it - I'll contact Benny at AllMoparParts and confirm.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a Max Steel Metallic with body color handles all around in a photo somewhere though so they must exist. But if not and I am mis-remembering then it's easy choice I guess to stick wtih my chrome/MSM handles after all lol.

Here’s a VIN of a MSM sport that you can give to Benny for the rear handle part numbers- 1C6RR7MT3HS843840

FINALLY got around to installing my drivers handle. Went really smoothly, except for when I broke the door lock rod clip. DAMHIKT but the only way to buy them is a complete kit for the truck, which is only $18 but needs to be ordered. For now I got a generic Dorman that seems to fit OK.

I realized I wanted a "break" in the wiring if I ever needed to remove the carrier plate easily (perhaps to replace a broken door lock rod clip ...) so for now I used PosiTaps inline. Will wrap them in harness tape when I go to clean everything up, so they should be protected.

Anyway....I did not move my antenna out of the b-pillar, and everything seems to work just fine. I can basically be left arm outstretched with fob in my right pocket and the truck picks it up just fine. Maybe its an issue with battery strength, but right now with my fairly new fob it works great.

I might change to NOT all locks unlock at once....not a fan of how the truck isnt "smart" enough and will keep attempting to unlock the doors if you touch the handle even if they are unlocked already. Always liked cars where they would cut off the signal if the doors were already unlocked....saves lock motors (and in our case, the dreaded who-knows-it-might-open-by-itself tailgate motor)

If you want to find a paint color it’s in the part number. 1UJ881W7AH the PW7 is this paint color while W7 is the part of the part number that is the paint color.

That's where I mounted mine on the rear doors of my Quad Cab.

Ok thanks - I am going to read back and work up a parts list to make sure I understand/got everything right for a self install. It's building the harnesses (and ripping apart the drivers door) that gave me pause over the auto tech kit tbh.

OK here's my parts list - minus the fobs (Amazon), handles (still tracking down), and any wiring/connector bits.

Adding Remote Start to a non-remote start 2016 via a 2017 RF Hub and correct RS hood latch, as well as the Push to Start and Proximity bits. I still haven't determined if the wiring is correct/in place for the hood latch, so will try to do that tomorrow.

Should I order extra antenna's? Did anyone get a bad one - they are so cheap adding one more of each might save some headache and delays if one happens to turn up bad.

And, speaking of handles - oddly enough even looking at Sport VIN I can't find any Max Steel Metallic Rear door handles, only Granite. Fronts yes, Rears no. I think I'm going to have to let Benny track this one down.

OK Benny got me sorted on the Rear MSM handles... took him like 2 min lol.

So now have to decide, keep chrome handles or switch to Body Matching :33:

Since swapping out to prox handles now is obviously the time to make the change if I am going to do it.

Going to review some truck pics... I dumped the chrome steps but still have chrome mirrors and grill/bumpers. Prob look good either way I guess...

I personally like the look of the 4th gens with a little chrome. Without it, they look like a "base" truck to me. Chrome adds a bit of upscale look, like you spent more on your truck than the other guy :)

Good point - I uploaded a better pic.

Some of the Sport pics I'm seeing I'm not wild about... but they are completely devoid of chrome so that might be why.

Sticking with Chrome would be cheaper, since only two handles to buy :)

That too!

On a darker color, if you go body color handles, etc I feel like the truck just looks like a sea of black (regardless of the actual color). The chrome "accents" set it off nicely.

I picked up a set of Laramie/Limited mirrors and was all ready to paint, replace or vinyl wrap the caps because I didnt think I would like the chrome, but once they were installed....wow! Really makes a difference (a good one, IMHO). My truck is white, and I wouldnt mind all white handles, etc but since I have the chrome bumpers I dont think it would look that great unless I replaced those too. Which aint happenin!

Yeah I agree, I was same way when I added the Chrome mirrors.

I think I will stick with Chrome... cost isn't really the issue, but the more I look at the Sports I think same as you I like a bit of shine to contrast with Grey and Black.

Quick question,
I have noticed that now that I installed the push button start my truck will not shut off unless it's in park and doesn't shift into park automatically if I push the button and forget to do it myself like it did before I installed the push button start. I am wondering if this is the way the factory push button trucks operate? I am thinking they most likely don't. I drove a Durango with push button start this weekend and I deliberately shut it off in gear and it actually shut itself off and put itself in park. I rarely forget to put my truck in park now but when I first got it I did a few times until
I got used to the rotary shifter. My concern is if someone has the stereo on and forgets to put the truck in park and pushes the button they will think the truck shut off and it's in park when actually the truck is still running and in gear. As soon as they take there foot off the brake the truck is going to roll forward and if the haven't done the auto park recall (which I haven't) they can actually open the door and start to step out and not realize the truck is still running and in gear and they could possibly fall out and be injured by the truck. My question is does anybody that has a factory push button start truck know if this is normal behavior or are you able to shut your truck off with it in gear and have it automatically put itself in park? If so I'm hoping there's a code we missed that is for this feature. I just can't see not being able to shut off the truck in gear as being anything that's normal.

Have you tried pressing *and holding* the button without the truck in park?

I will try what you said and get back to you. I have not had U05 installed either, BUT my truck acts like it has AutoPark. I wonder if that somehow makes a difference.

It shouldn't make any difference at all because before they came out with the recall I'm sure the trucks would shut off if you pushed the button and they were in gear just like they do with the standard key fobs. I think there's a code that we've missed. I pushed the button and held it. I tried everything the truck will not shut off unless it's in park. I didn't try it in neutral though.

I would be interested to see if it works with people that bought the actual kit to add this on.

I kinda sorta wonder if the "fix" is actually part of the U05 recall.

I kind of doubt it was part of the recall. I can't see Ram or any other manufacturer releasing a vehicle that will not turn off unless it's in park.
