So as some on the forum know my basically brand new truck that just has 23k miles on it has been hit 3 times while I have been stopped, since buying it at the very end of 2017. The last hit was what I thought would have been the nail in the coffin, when a teenager late for school decided to run a light and do donuts into the c post. Nope they decided to fix it!!! Allstate said we can fix it and fix it right to FCA standards so no reason to total it. A decision that I am still in different about and after the final bill Allstate is regretting. The last bill I saw was just over $30k and the rental alone was $6100 as of last Wednesday when I turned it in. On one hand, I do love my truck and it gave me time to do things that probably would have never gotten done but on the other hand, I was without it for 6 month almost to the day. Oh yes and even though the local body shop did an absolute spectacular job on it. It would have so much nicer to just go get a new one without all the hassle. Here are a good list of pictures that details the 6 month journey. I have a lot more but just picked a few to show the progress. Make sure you're sitting down for this one!

Wow. Sorry for your bad luck, but it still looks good in the end. Since it was always the "other person's" fault, I hope you went after their insurance for diminished value. Your truck will take a huge hit if ever trading or selling. You're best to keep it until it dies now.

I did, my lawyer is handling that and the medical side of things. I was told by the lawyer and the body shop that the diminished value only come off once and not every time there is an incident like most think. Yes the shop did a remarkable job. Far exceeds what Hendricks Collision did when they had it. Briggs even fixed the screw ups Hendricks left. I was there every day for the 6 months helping, paying attention to every aspect and adding my own little touches. I learned a lot about our trucks over that time. Not something most shops would allow you to do but my circumstances are a little different.

After all that time they probably thought you worked there![emoji16]

Yes, an amazing job. I am also amazed at the extent of work required to repair, cutting the cab apart and such. Yeah, I'll bet the insurance company was second-guessing their decision.

There's the real problem. You are going to get SCREWED if you ever sell or trade the vehicle. Fixed "like new" or not, all that still goes on the carfax.

Well we shall see that why I have an attorney. Honestly I have experience in body work and stayed very vigilant throughout the process. Theresa’s no frame damage and is on two places you can even tell there was anything done. I don’t think the average person could even tell. I made sure they were very thorough and learned some things along the way. But you might be right but I’ll be ok in the end.

Even if you "can't tell" a dealer, or any intelligent used car buyer, is going to pull that carfax, see 3 collisions and start taking money off.

If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time it may not be a big deal... but make sure to keep every scrap of paperwork covering all the repairs, you may need it in the end.

It does look like they did a great job with the repairs, sucks seeing vehicle owners suffer from things that aren't their fault.

Key word is intelligent!! But in the end I am probably going to keep it. To much work to part with with it now. And it really does look good. Especially up close.
