Just for an update I took my truck to the shop on Sunday. Monday night the mechanic was telling me it’s not the coil, spark plug, injectors. It has Low compression. He Immediately said he wanted to check the cam...and I called today for an update... and I guess he don’t work Tuesday,Wednesday... so he’s barly ripping it down...Thursday... wish I would of know He had the days off...I would of taken it somewhere else...

That guy better be on his deathbed if he didn’t tell you he wasn’t going to work either of those days!! Time to find a new shop unless he’s charging you almost nothing for whatever the fix is!

Has anyone(I'm sure there has been maybe) had a cam lifter go bad without any hemi tick. Lack of ticking leads me to put my money on broken valve spring also. Can't wait to find out. I don't do so well at the casino so i may be wrong.

I have a 2011 ram 1500 5.7 and I’ve had my truck for about 3 years never had anything wrong with it. So about 1 year ago I changed the spark plugs and gaped them and also put new coils in. Even thought there was nothing wrong with the factory ones I took out. So for the past two days I been going and coming for work drive about 100 miles per day for the last month. For my new job. And I’ve noticed that my truck is not accelerating right it starts to bog out the faster I go on the freeway... so I took it to autozone down the street from my house and it says p0301 cylinder 1 misfires and it says it’s the spark plug or the coil... too many misfire detected. That it might be the 1 coil... and he says that I have to buy a new coil to see if it will fix the problem... BUT HE SAID MIGHT... or it can be a blown cylinder... so I went home and disconnected the coil and took out spark plugs and everything seem fine. I used a little wire brush to clean the little bit of debris. I put everything back together thinking that a connection or the coil might be loose... and I test drove it and same ****... still fills the same

In reference to your comment, "even though there was nothing wrong with the factory ones you took out"....remember, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Never should have taken the "good" ones out in the first place.

Upload video on youtube, very easy. You may have to save to your folder, then use their uploader. What did the video prove? what's the damage?

I have an extended warranty and gap threw the dealer I bought my truck from. It was included in the price of the truck. Also I blew my tranny last year and the warranty company covered it :)

Nice!! Are they giving you a loaner car while the truck is in the shop? Glad it was covered and you’re coming out ahead!!

Yes but I have to pay it on my own and then give them the receipt. For reimbursement but my limit is only 5 day at 25.99 per day

Man those lifters were trashed... Makes me cringe. I hope the damn hellcat lifters I installed were better quality, my motor only had about 12k miles before I replaced the cam/lifters!

Hey All,

I just want to say how great is is to read how y'all are trying to help Miguel smith with this issue. sometimes I get on different forums only to read somebody's bad attitude, who just wants to argue. Not here, and it's just great. I hope I don't have issues with my '17 6.4, but if I do, I won't be reluctant to bring it to this forum.
Thanks for being cool!

ive got same issue with my 2017 Ram 1500. 5.7litre. 67,000 miles. changed plugs at 60,000 miles

driving down highway Felt a vibration ,check engine light turned on began flashing and beeping and truck shut off doin 75 mph. Pulled over truck would not start again . turned over but would not fire.

Got a look at gauges before it shut down, oil pressure was good ,volts were good, engine and oil temp were good, and oil was full.

Pulled the code. P0301 cylinder 1 misfire..

Pulled coil and plugs ,plugs looked fine, replaced coil and problem not fixed,
when i pulled the plugs the threads had alot of oil on them.
