The motor for the 44-44 is an encoder responding to a digital signal, no?
Yet the 244 setting is specifically called out as analog......
i just tried it. It still doesn't work in 4wd high only low.
@Ken226 no i haven't tried that yet. I will just haven't had time to really mess with it. Once i try it I'll post an update.
@Ken226 244 digital didn't work and it won't allow me to program the 233 analog
I have an appointment tomorrow morning at 9am to get a couple recalls taken care of.
I have installed a Mopar trailer brake controller, Mopar remote start kit, Mopar backup camera and a BW44-45 and activated them with AlphaOBD.
This recall requires a reflash, which will probably wipe out all the AlphaOBD programming ive done for my Mopar goodies.
Instead of just reactivating all that stuff with AlphaOBD, im gonna try an experiment
While there, im going to have them flash the sales codes for my trailer brake controller, backup camera, remote start and also slip in the DH9 sales code for the BW44-45.
Im just curious to see if they can fo the DH9 sales code.
The problem with that last thing is that they might not be able to add the DH9 because your trim level was not available with it.
However, your base trim (SLT?) might allow for it.
Well....out with the old (ignore the Saab in the background):

in with the new...FWIW, I did not have to re-pin anything on the harness.

And even soldered in white LEDs to the new switch!

Works great. Glad to know the 44-44 is gone!

Purely for educational purposes / wild speculation (and someone who does not have an Alpha to tinker with) ...
Would it be possible to remove the transfer case from the programming of the truck altogether so that you could swap in a fully manual unit that the truck has absolutely no awareness of? Lets go full crazy and say swapping in something like an Atlas (https://www.fourwheeler.com/product-reviews/1406-the-mythological-atlas-transfer-case/).
I'm assuming you'd have an issue with unlocking the front drive line then ... but one step at a time.
FourWheeler magazine did this in 2009 when the 4th gens first came out. If you look up AutoEdits on Youtube, he owns the truck now and talks about what they did.
Google project black sheep from them and in one of the articles they talk about how they did it.
They swapped a rubicon transfer case in which I believe was a direct bolt in. Then pulled the encoder motor out of the stock transfer case and just zipped tied it up out of the way. So all that needs to be done is turn the factory switch to 4WD, which will engage the front diff disconnect, it turns the encoder motor so the computer stays happy, then just pull the manual transfer case into whatever gear you want. The only thing that needs to be custom made is driveshafts the fit the new transfer case and still bolt to the factory diffs.
I dont know if would work with the '13 and up trucks, but the systems are the same as far as I know.
Got a BW 44-45 from a if I recall correctly a 2009 with a little over 100k and a 4.7l v8 for $300. Best deal I could find around me, being in Fairbanks Alaska. Getting ready to swap it into my 2014 Sport this weekend, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous at all. Anything I should know before diving in? Im pretty mechanically inclined but I've never done anything with a T case. But I grew up helping my dad who's a heavy diesel mechanic. So garage work is nothing new to me. Usually involves super trivial stuff aggravating me and wrenches being thrown... You know, garage stuff lol
