It’s a 10-48 your good. I got same ones from 2019 when I stocked up.

Unsure about new 10-48’s though, I’d assume whenever NEW 10-48’s come out they’ll most likely follow the same quality as the new BAD 10-47’s. To check the quality I guess you could follow the steps 540 Rat did during his tests.

This is all new to me so I can’t provide to much more info than what I know and what 540 Rat found.

The RP 10-47 does not even fit our trucks its a RP 10-48.
So no body on here should be buying it..lol

If I understand the OP correctly, the new 10-48's might be suspect if they don't have the right by-pass valve in them. The one I have on hand has a clearly visible orange plastic plunger in the center, so I believe it's good to go.

So know idea if they are bad just saying they might be ?
Then telling us to not buy a filter that does not fit our trucks.......

Yeah, I wish I would have known this was rat blog info in first post, I would have passed on the thread. No good info here, still haven't heard anything credible against RP other then a few minor cases in comparison to how many people they have served well. If rat blog says it's bad, chances are it is the best.

Guy is in love with puro synthetic, made my truck tick, went to RP and truck was quiet. That's rat boy info for ya.

Throwing junk together is pure engineering, let’s not get it twisted but there are some solid MacGyvers out there though.

Hah I’m sorry guys I hadn’t looked if it was even a compatible filter for our trucks..that’s on me I admit it. All I remember was I had a 10-something and before looking up the compatibility wanted to share this.

SO if you have any other vehicles that could potentially take a 10-47, don’t buy the RP one.

But I’d also consider the fact they the 10-47 is made so horribly that the craftsmanship will carry over to the 10-48 at some point..so I’d be very skeptical and careful if anyone was to consider 10-48 in the future now knowing this info...

If an OP wants this post can be removed. I didn’t realize it wasn’t compatible, again, my bad on this one.

I don't think that is a synthetic filter, it's a blend. The one's I have seen cut open look identical to Mobil 1.

maybe it is just paper? this is why we need people to cut open filters! No screen back = paper... RP looking awful good?

And make sure your filter has a bypass, these RP/Amsoil ea filters are built great from what I can see.

10-48 OLD version = good

10-47 NEW 2020 version = BAD

I know everyone was a die hard royal purple fan and so was I until I read this on 540 Rat blog!! This guy is as smart as they come so I fully trust what he says and the research he does.

hope they did not do this to the little filter that I used for my transmission. RP 10-2867. It has a bypass but if they’ve changed it completely I’m going to go to WIX for my trans spin on.

It’s what I’m going with on my new 20. Waiting till I hit 500 miles. Going with the larger 20-820 this time.

NYAndrew, haven't ever been a fan of Rat blog. I enjoyed the nut on the end of the KN filter before mfg was shipped over seas. Quality went way down. The filtering specs changed also. In other words, this is not the oil filter it was 9 or 10 years ago. I use fram ultra, but that's me. There are much better filters than KN to use. Check on bitog for lots of filter info.
