Made it to just over 50,000 kms, before mine went south, but it might have something to do with putting down 572 lb-ft @3200 rpm at the rear tires, and 500 dragstrip passes on drag radials, lolI suppose feel free to identify how long your trans lasted on the original fluid too before experiencing problems if you did have a trans failure or issues.

First of all, hilarious name. Are you the original owner and have you never even changed the fluid (not a flush although those usually don't bode well to remove all at once)? That's impressive but this ZF 8 speed fluid is very goodI have 185k miles, just rebuilt top end of engine and my 8speed still shifts like new. No flush yet.
The good thing was it still made it the 155 miles from the track to home, but it had nothing above 5th,it was a slow drive home that night, lol"It just quit on me."
Rick, I would've loved to see the look on the face of the R&R guy when they opened up that one for the rebuild......lol.

I bought it at 46k miles. No flushes/fluid change at all. I'm scared to do anything since it still works like new...lol Carfax had all dealer oil changes from previous owner but no other work.First of all, hilarious name. Where is the option for the crazy people that change their fluid at 30k miles?
You are right it is totally dependent on your usage. IMO no fluid is truly lifetime. I bought a trailer this year so I have some extra wear from towing, but I put in a heater bypass so my max towing temps are less than standard operating temps with the heater installed. Also just to note, you dont have to reroute the exhaust to drain and swap fluid. The only "special" tool you need is to trim down an allen key for the drain plug. I've actually changed mine 3 times already but thats a longer story lol.haha, i mean if you're changing ZF trans fluid that soon, i think crazy is probably a good term to use but at the same time if your truck ends up going 300k miles with no issues, then we're all the crazy ones, not you. Actually, this thread is ONLY for folks who have never changed their fluid. Mainly, i'm wanting to gather how "lifetime" this fluid is before we start to see a trend and possibly what we could realistically expect but the problem still lies with: A) we are not all in the same climates, B) we don't all tow, C) we all have different driving habits etc etc. I'm probably going to have my exhaust routed around the pan if possible so I can just do it myself. It is not a hard procedure. The hardest part is levling the transmission and getting the back end off the ground is kind of necessary anyways so that you can get the truck into 2nd gear for the procedure but that part isn't 100% necessary.
ZF says 80,000 to 130,000 kms /50,000 to 80,000 miles or every 8 years which ever comes first. Who you believe is up to you,but i'm not so inclined to believe FCA/Stellentis all that much, lolI just brought my 18’ Ram to the dealer at 105k miles and asked them to do the transmission service. They said it’s not required, ever. I was surprised considering I was going to pay for it. But they said “Dodge does not recommend ever changing the fluid on the 8 speed”. Seems hard to believe
In this case, replace the fluid at this milage, may kill the tranny, just keep going till the end.I bought it at 46k miles. No flushes/fluid change at all. I'm scared to do anything since it still works like new...lol Carfax had all dealer oil changes from previous owner but no other work.
