Rick hit it. This is what I get on the screen in the controls section.

View attachment 137996

It only displays the cargo camera, which I dont have. If I hit the button I get this.

View attachment 138002

I can then select the reverse cam and it'll come up on the screen just fine. It doesn't matter if I'm in reverse or not, but it does cut out in motion pretty quick.
I was thinking about disabling the Nav lockout it the truck and seeing if maybe the backup camera will stay on because the motion lockout is disabled. Probably won't but worth a try .

Does anybody have a recommendation for a cheap android device? I was going to get a free one from a friend, but that just fell through. Do you think one of those prepaid android phones from Walmart would work?

Not sure how much one of the prepaids cost but there are some pretty cheap tablets out there between Amazon, eBay, Walmart and so on... That being said, this is what the dev had to say when I asked a question about compatibility with an older tablet I had. The program wasn't showing up in the Google Play for me.

"Android 4.2.2 should be compatible. I have no control over the Google Play compatibility list so I can’t add your device to the supported list. But you can try to install the non-Google Play version from http://www.alfaobd.com/AlfaOBD.apk

If this will work for you, you can purchase this version on http://www.alfaobd.com/android.html

This version is always same as the Google Play one."

I assume you referring to a motion lockout bypass or something you've seen in Alfa? I would like to do this myself but can't bring myself to spend 200 bucks for it. Lol

I can now confirm that the "Tow Mirror Present" option is the one that causes the mirror controls to operate correctly when the tow mirrors are rotated up into towing position. One more for the known working settings file. :)

Code:
Doors Configuration:
   Tow Mirror Present: Set

Thank you. That’s where I found the prepaid phones, at Walmart. I was just curious because I’m primarily an iPhone user, but I’ve done a little android programming for my degree.

Anyone had any luck with the auto folding mirrors on lock. My 2016 has the regular folding mirrors option.
I have played around and have the option in settings, but when I check it after about 2-3 seconds it un-checks itself. Not sure if another type of module is needed.

Thanks

The Alfa app can be a little confusing at first, but it really is quite simple once you get the hang of it. We're hoping as time goes on he will get the app a little more organized. He has already done a lot in the short time I have been a user. I can tell you even with the additional cost of a tablet or phone it is worth what it costs.

Out of curiosity, do you have any Windows laptops laying around? Below is a link to his site for downloads. You can download the Windows version as well before you purchase which will give you 15 minutes of unrestricted use. Of course, it is not a long time so don't expect to get anything accomplished.

No one to my knowledge has completed the install of the door modules and switch to check to see if the auto fold setting works. You need the premium power fold mirrors, the setting will not stick on the 8.4 screen because it cannot find/locate the correct modules. I'm sure someone will step it with some better information for you but the forum has a few threads on this already. Mirror types and installs I mean.

At the very least it will give you the opportunity to see if it connects with the equipment you have. Do you already have the OBDLink MX Bluetooth for the OBDII port?

If you haven't already, check out the first post and browse through the thread. Also, in my sig the link to the Alfa folder is there. Take a look at the known working settings and since you're going to try out the Windows version, check out post 89.

Thanks!!! I appreciate the help! When I first saw this post I was deployed, but now that I’m home my “honey-do” list has controlled my free time. I’ll be getting to this SOON!

I have a 2017 Laramie with the factory power folding mirrors. I tried activating the auto power folding mirror function and had the same issue as Pakkratt where the box would uncheck itself in the CSM after attempting to activate. Safe to say that Ram does not have this feature available - this may only be a Dodge or Chrysler vehicle specific option.

Someone more verse than I will have to handle this one and will hopefully chime in. I believe there are two different versions of the power fold mirrors. There's a base and premium, from what I have been told and read.

That being said, it very well could be the auto fold will not work on our trucks for the reasons stated. Still wouldn't mind finding out for sure.

Edit: Added DeereGuy's post to the OP. Thank you @MADDOG

From last year when I was researching my mirror upgrade I seem to recall that there were only 2 door module variations, at least for the 2014's. The primary difference between them being that the higher one supported the power fold function. There is a separate module for the 2014's that mounts under the seat that handles seat and mirror memory functions. The same door modules were also specified for another person who was doing memory mirrors on a 2016, so I think there are only 2 variations. To be certain though we could check with Benny @AllMoparParts.com here on the forums.

I see an "Auto Power Folding Mirrors customer settings menu" setting on the 2016, 2017 & 2018 BCM files in the shared drive (I suspect that's what you tried @Pakkratt ?) but it's not present on my 2014, so I can't try it myself.

From other conversations here and on other forumz I'm pretty certain that it's been determined that there is no auto-fold functionality available on the 4th Gen trucks. Not sure about 5th Gen.

That is correct, there are only two different left/right hand door modules. The ones that my 16' have currently installed from factory are the non-power fold. The ones you listed are the "upgraded" modules to enable the power fold feature the upgraded power fold mirrors offer.

Pakkratt stated he had the regular folding mirrors. Which of course mean non-power folding. They would not have the ability to have the feature anyway as the proper equipment is not present.

Steady Red stated he had a Laramie with power fold mirrors which is closer to the mirrors I am referring to. I should have asked if you were able to add the auto tilt in reverse feature and have it function.

What I was really speaking of are the differences in mirrors as well. My stock mirrors had only heat and power adjustment. The mirrors I upgraded to have automatic dimming, heated, temperature sensor, turn signal, puddle light, memory, power tilt and power folding. From what I have been told there are two variances of these types of mirrors. One being a base model power fold and the other being the premium power fold.

My mirrors (of course it could have been listed incorrectly as often found on eBay, no I didn't check, got lucky):
68231242AF
68231243AD

It would stand to reason that a truck with memory presets and the current ability to have the mirrors "tilt in reverse" would have the premium mirrors installed. If those trucks have tried to enable the "auto fold" and failed then it is more than likely not possible to enable that feature on our trucks. Unless there is some aftermarket module you can "hack" in to do so.
