Im not an engineer, but why did they go the route they did instead of just using an electric motor to power a hydraulic pump. Not fast enough response maybe? Providing it would only come on when needed.
My 2013 steering did use electric motor to power the pump.It was called hydraulic/ electric steering had hoses and all .My 2013 Ram is totally electric steering.

The wise old farmer said a GMC is a Chevy with lock washers.
There is more truth than fiction to that statement.
Way back in the excessively loud stereo days two of my buddies owned the same year Chevy S-10 and the opposite GMC S-15 pick up trucks. While helping with the installation of the stereo systems there was fasteners that used lock washer on the GMC along with more adhesive used on body/trim panels.

I've had similar experiences from childhood till now .

GMC imo has always been at least one cut above the Chevy?

Why the original H1 had a four wheel independent suspension, not really an even comparison but hard to say they've ruined it.
The bigger ***** is why isn't Ram produced something to complete with this? I'd be real tempted to buy a Ram that was like the Suburban.
Man i probably have 100k miles in the H1 ....clay mud in Ga. On Ft. Stewart ...multiple field ops in the US And Desert ops as well !.....AWESOME Vehicle imo . Very hard to get stuck with the 4 wheel independent suspension! ! With a tremendous amount of travel.

I'd purchase a gas burner large V-8 Model H1 for $50-$60k in a heart beat !

Never did like the diesel hesitation ( back in the day)

The H1 was an off road vehicle.

A 3/4 tone Chevy is NOT. It is a work truck. Work trucks need solid axles.

To each his own I guess.

And there is always an ongoing debate of solid axle versus independent suspension for Off Road.

I do see your point my friend ....i absolutely do !
I did love the H1 for its off road capabilities though !

My buddies Chevy did seem to be slightly quicker than the GMC even though the both had the same engine/powertrain. It was probably the extra weight of the lock washers slowing the GMC down...lol

yes ive been reading about coreys tests. I do like redline si-1, but i was just looking for a decent otc product to help clean it out a bit. this is our first oil change since buying the truck. so i want to start cleaning things out. I agree, process is most important. This go around ill run QSUD in it with wix xp filter for probably 4k miles. Gonna do a uoa of current oil and then one at next change. It is coming up on needing plugs. ill be doing that along with new fluids this spring/summer when it warms up or i get a house with a garage.

I do love this truck. with the awd its the perfect vehicle for the wife. well....that is until we just found out baby #3 is on the way. Kind of changes things a bit size wise. time will tell with that. not jumping to a suburban or yukon xl yet.

Congrats on #3 !

Come to think of it my moms old 06 Chevy Malibu had some really weird both system ..... thing.
The electric motor and pump and reservoir is all one combined unit and the little plastic reservoir doesnt have a dipstick. Then Dodge crams the thing up inside the right side wheel well so you have to tear all that out just to check the fluid level. Kinda stupid really.

Ford guys work the hardest

Then Ram guys

Then Chevy's

Then nissan or toyota

GMC and Honda rideline whose owners are 85% women.
Since I sold my ford and bought a ram you can switch those top two around!
Let’s just say a good day for me is when I lay hardwood flooring for 8 hours, come home and wash the truck before mowing the 1/2 acre, then barbecuing dinner and doing the wife. There’s a shower in there near the end so you guys don’t think I’m gross.

Don't let them cut you man, it is way easier and less effect for women. They only have to absorb one egg, but guys have to absorb a lot, messes with you trust me. Congrats on 3.
