I was referred to you for synthetic motor oil. I just purchased an 09 Ram with a 5.7 Hemi, has 13,500 miles on it. Would it be good to start using synthetic oil on it? If so, is royal purple a good choice or what are your recommendations? Also what oil filter would I need to be using?

I assume Heath will be recommending Amsoil.

Well, of course I would sway towards AMSOIL:) But I'll be fair. If I wasn't an AMSOIL user, it would be Mobil 1. Not a fan of RP. Heard too many negative things, maybe not about the motor oil per say, but others...gear lubes, motorcycle oil, etc. Doesn't mean it's not good.
AMSOIL is a great product. You have 3 grades to choose from, each with different pricing. The OE will take you as far as you manual allows you. The XL line will go 10k or 6 months. The signature series will go 15-25k(depending on condtions) or 1 year.
So depending on what you want out of an oil, one of them should fit most needs. AMSOIL does have a filter for your truck (EaO11). This filter will go 15-25k or one year along with the oil. You don't have to run them. If you use an aftermarket, typically these should work for 7500 miles or so and will work fine for the OE or XL. If using with the sig. series, you would need to change it every 7500.
Be glad to get you some prices if you wish. Let me know which grade and how much. Prices are competitive to others even with shipping. Don't go by the website pricing.
Appreciate you asking.

For the 5.2L, looks like 10/30 is the preferred oil, but 5/30 could be used. Prices will be the same for both.
Apparently we don't have an AMSOIL filter for this engine. What this means is you'll have to use another filter, which are good for 7500-10000 miles usually. Not sure how far you are wanting to run the oil but we have 3 options:
Signature series: 15-25k or one year. (need to change filter at 7500-10000)
XL series: 10000 miles or six months (can use any filter)
OE series: OEM interval only (any filter)

I'll PM quotes for all 3.

Ok, now I need a little education on the RAM. I have two 5.7L listed for 09. Both have engine code T but one is labeled a EZH? What is that? The EZH has a different oil filter apparently. Both take the same oil and same amount...7qt of 5/20.
I'll PM you the oil prices and both filters.
Your choices are the same as above, but you've indicated the 100% syn, which usually designates the signature series.
On the way...

Oh ya, the universal ATF meets the ATF+4 for the mopar trannys. We only have WIX tranny filters. I forgot that in your PM. Makes a difference if 2 or 4x4. Let me know and i can get that for you.
