It sounds like you've achieved your goal then, and it's perfectly reasonable.
I had a CAI with the filter 7" from the ground with ZERO protection from the road/elements from below, drove it through all seasons and some wicked sitting water at highway speeds at night on the Trans Canada hwy with no problems. People who have hydrolock issues are nearly looking for them with Darwin as a passenger.

Again, I applaud you for doing this.

I finally have burned off the rest of the fuel left in my tank before my trip last sunday. filling up my tank tomorrow after im done work, and going to monitor my fuel usage, to see if I am infact getting some kind of improvement over my ( Cut Open Modded Airbox in my 2012 ). My average MPG in my 12' was roughly ( 11.8 mpg ). Basically if I can crack the 13 mark on a normal basis then ill be really happy !

So first tank of fuel has been burned off finally, took me 2 weeks to do it.

BEST Highway MPG ( 12' ) = 18.4
BEST Highway MPG ( 13' ) = 19.3

BEST Local MPG ( 12' ) w/ Open Airbox Mod = 11.8

*** NEW BEST Local MPG ( 13' ) w/ Ram Air Mod = 12.5 ***


This is only the first full tank with the new mod, so I will be comaring my next 2 tanks as well. Then coming up with an average between the 3 tanks combined. I was hoping to break the 13 MPG mark with local driving, but none the less I have a clear gain of .7 MPG and I'll take it ! So far the truck has 930 Miles on it, just incase anyone was interested to know.

Distance 299 Miles / Gallons Used 24 = 12.5

Only Mods - Muffler Delete / Airbox Mod.

I just filled up ( Sunday 8/11 ) so I will get back and post tank #2 results.

I would attribute your mileage gain more to the truck breaking in than your mod. Mileage goes up for the first few thousand miles. I'm not saying this isn't still a great, cheap mod.
