Looking for a 190* stat that’ll fit the 5.7 hemi. I’m not looking for a 180. Just something in between. What are oil temp readings for the trans and engine oil with the 190stats. I found one on amazon for 18$ says it’ll fit the 2017 ram 5.7 by motorad 192* but I’d prefer to buy from a vendor if possible

Never seen a 190, they make 195 thermostats which I have been seriously considering...

Do you need a tune for these or does the computer adapt to the lower temps? Didn’t want the fan running excessively like I thought I read on the older rams.

You should get it reprogrammed to account for the fan running to keep cooler temps also it theoretically would run less until reprogrammed as the stock mechanical fan would keep it cool unless under heavy load. Nothing else changes stock wise unless you get into modding the engine. I plan on running a cam and headers down the road so the cooler stat will help keep the truck from pulling timing

I run a 180 T-stat in my wifes stock untuned 2016 Challenger with no issues.Yes the car will run at the same temps in rush hour traffic as it does with the factory 203 T-stat,but as soon as it has any airflow through the rad it runs at the same 185 temps as my tuned 2014 1500 with a 180 T-stat does. The cars don't have a mechanical fan,so the electric fans still turn on at the factory temps, the trucks with a mechanical fan, should run closer to the 180 T-stats rating though, because the mechanical fan should still be pulling air through the rad. The later 5.7's go into closed loop at 160F,so you techinically don't need a tune for a 180 t-stat,but to get the most out of the cooler T-stat a tune is a good choice

What are your oil temp and trans fluid temps with the 180 stat

Engine oil temps depend on how hard you're driving either one, tranny temps on both the car and truck usually are between 185 and 190 after a 100 miles on the freeway at 80+mph. There isn't enough temp difference between the stock 203 T-stat and a 195 T-stat to jusify the cost or labour,i'd throw a 180 in it instead, you don't need a tune for a 180,that's a misconception,as they go into closed loop mode at 160

I have a Stant 190 t-stat. Very happy with it.
Did the clutch fan delete and just kept the oem AC fan.
Ran some diablosport canned tunes with it but got back to modified stock tune lately.
(MDS off / e-fan settings / shift points.)
Below a pic after a 65 Mile roundtrip ...

Alright wasn’t sure how that worked on the newer Rams. I had a 180 in my 2006 but I had a hemifever tune and I don’t plan on doing that with this one since it’s a 2015. Just liked the cooler running temps in my old one so I had thought about doing it to this one if it was beneficial without having a tune and still having stock fan.

If you want to use a forum vendor you might contact Matt at Moe's Performance. I think he is closed today but will be open again tomorrow.
